I set up bi-weekly payments in July. I am paying the $350 (in installments), but the benefit for me is that they draft the day after I get paid. For me, it works out by keeping my bills pretty flat from paycheck to paycheck. (After all, my paycheck doesn't vary) To be able to pay towards the principal and save on interest is an added benefit. Of course I could make an extra $1,400 mortgage payment sometime during the year, but I can't depend on myself to do that! Umm vacation, ummmm Christmas, ummm kids's birthday, ummmm shoes, ummm cookout, ummmm so many excuses I can come up with during the course of the year. There is no other option to pay 1/2 the mortgage at a time (I tried that one time before, was a disaster) "Set it & Forget it"
