Thanks "Starting Over".. it's people like you on this forum that really help. Since 2007 I have learned a lot (and forgotten a lot apparently) from this Forum. I felt in control and now I need to pull in the reigns. I'll stick to it as I know it's possible. Slow and steady. Thanks for this forum I went from bad credit to good credit and bought my first condo. Feels good. But this is a good reminder (to me) that bad habits / old habits can and will repeat themselves if not watched carefully. I just got in from my part time job and thought of my goal/s. I just have to work hard. Thanks for ALL of your support!

Ok thank you. I've pulled myself out before and not sure why I got myself back into this situation as I chip away at my debt. My hope was to get a loan to pay off the retail cards with higher % and never use them again as I pay off other bills. I know I can do this and I am working a second job now so I will stay focused. I do think a HELOC would be a good idea so we'll see. This forum has been so helpful to me since 2007. Thanks again.

So based on your luck with Promise I just tried it (as I'm waiting for LC to get back to me as it's been over a week on their preapproval). Anyways, I'm bummed because I asked for $13.5 to check their rates I had to fill out a lot on their website and the reply was they couldn't help me because "Excesisive obligations in relation to income". They pulled TU. I am just trying to get a loan with a lower % than a lot of my CC so I can pay them down. I have good credit just using too much and either I pay minimums or get a loan to help. Either way they will get paid so I don't understand when we get denied.

How long did it take? I did the preapproved thing and selected $14K and they asked for docs, so I sent them. The status of the loan still after a week remains "in progress/ we'll let you know if we have questions"... seems odd. I just read an article that said if my uitl is too high they will deny me but that's why I'm trying to do the loan to pay off cc debt. I hope they approve but am curious what your experience was. I never heard about Prosper until tonight. Thanks for posting.. MyFico has been a world of help to me since 2007. :)

I just want to thank MyFico for everything. I started these forums in 2007 and slowly tackled my collections and credit issues. Never expected an overnight "fix" so I just paid everything off in time, slow and steady. I never knew if I could actually own my own place and now I'm officially a home owner! I bought my first condo 2 months ago and it feels so good as I've been really diligent about my credit score and always watch my credit reports /scores as they only improve with time. This was NOT easy. I'm not going to pretend this was a walk in the park. It was not! I just want everyone to know how grateful I am (and will continue to be) for MyFico Forums. This site can truly change lives. Wishing a world of happiness and financial happiness and freedom to everyone. PS.. If your employer does a nice 401lk, jump in! I am contributing 15% right now and it's fun to watch it grow. These little things also help add to the financial security of owning a home. THANK YOU MY FICO!

I love Care Credit. I have had them since 2007 and they have been terrific. I initially needed about $2800 for Lasik and that's the limit they gave me but then I called and said that would 'max' out the card so they raised it to $4800. They offer good promos too so check with your dentist or care clinic (can't remember). Recently my mom needed me to take care of her $1100 dental bill so I had to use my Care Credit account which made me happy to be able to help. Overall, a great card in my book. Hope this helps. Hello - Just wanted to give you an update. They mailed me a letter with the denial stating my balances were too high. I knew this was coming and it's ok. Lesson learned, only ask for credit when you need it. My goal needs to remain paying down my current balances and if the Citi card is right for me down the road, I will earn it. Thanks everyone.

Sigh... all of these approvals had me very excited as I received the pre-approval in the mail today. I pulled the trigger and just got this notice: We have received your application and further processing is required at this time. We will contact you within a week via email regarding our decision. Thank you for requesting a Citi® Platinum Select® Visa®. I'm pretty sure that my high balances are the issue, but I just couldn't resist. I know my entire debt will be paid off in a year, but I was hoping to increase the line available (not use it) and thereby reduce my overall utilization. Oh well. ... if nothing else, I continue to live and learn daily. And I'm forever grateful to this forum since 2007. I am a fico finatic! Current scores: EX: 701 (on their site) EQ: True Fico .... was 700 but dropped to 670 recently after opening a new account- sigh TU: 672 (from Walmart site)

I still don't know who they pulled but I just applied online and got approved for 1600 CL. Yeah! I can get some work done on my car now. I'll post again once I see which CB they pulled. Thanks myFico forums!

It's my understanding that the Walmart score updates about 1 x a month. I'm curious why my Fico score via Walmart is 32 points LOWER than the FICO score on myFico for TU. Anyone know why? I would expect them to be identical.

Yes yes! 850 is my goal. I'm going to pay it all down in 12-24 months and watch it rise. Then I will make new healthy financial goals that have nothing to do with credit cards!!!!!

I've been waiting since 2007 to say this! "I'm now a proud member of the 700 club!"....and I owe it ALL to myFico forums! Thank you so much for all of your support. I continue to learn that slow-and-steady wins this race against debt and I'm not out of the woods. Fico simulator says all categories are great except the amount of debt - which it says my score would be 850 once I pay it down in 12-24 months, so I will continue my path to be debt free. But I'm so overjoyed to see my new alert with a score that starts with a 7!!!!!! Thanks everyone! We can do this!! Has anyone had any luck with the Sallie Mae Visa? I just finished paying off my student loan and I just noticed it .... so it peaked my curiosity and applied. I'm not sure that they will approve me as my util is too high, but my Ficos are EQ 688, TU 690. Anyone have any experience with Sallie /visa?

I just called and gave my approval # to the lady and she said the same thing "congrats, you'll get your card in 7-10 days". When I asked for the CL, she said 600. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I'm happy she told me. :) I've been wanting a Walmart card, but I shouldn't because I'm paying down my card that have a high utilization, so I just want to sock drawer this after using it for gas and pay it off each month. GEMB has been very good to me with various card (Gap , Chevron, Care Credit). BURNING QUESTION: How do I use it for a free TU credit report? Is it really a TRUE FICO TU report? Thanks for your help. Thanks for the feedback! I'm trying to be very careful about apps. The only INQ I have are from moving 2x in the last 2 yrs, but my utilization is high, so I think I'll hang back in the weeds for a bit and continue to pay my balances down and watch my score rise. :) As much as I want the Walmart card, I keep thinking of what this site taught me - to not apply for credit unless you really need it. And I truly just need to pay my balances down, so I'll be a good girl and just wait. :)

Hello - Thanks for posting. I'm considering DMP but I've worked so hard to get my score to 688 and now I'm in a pickle which means I may need to do a DMP. Will my score drop considerably? I'm trying to do the right thing by paying these off it time through a good DMP (any recommendations?) without having to file BK. I may loose my job which is what my concern is. I have about $24K in CC debt and with the interest rates, I'm just in over my head paying minimums ea month. I need to figure out a plan. Any advice? Thank you! I'm a big MyFico fan. This site/forum has helped me grow/learn and do very well over the last few years, for which I'm very grateful.

Well I hope you had good luck with care credit. My experience was good with them in Oct 07. I was in the mid 600's and got approved for my LASIK $2800 procedure but told them I needed more so I wouldn't be maxed out so they raised it to $4800 with 18mono interest. They've been great &my new eyes are almost paid off! Hooray !

2 of my credit cards (CCCU and a local credit union) sent me statements telling me that I can SKIP this month's payment as a gift. Does anyone know if this is really OK? I'll probably make a payment to be on the safe side, but it would be great to be able to skip one month, but I'm worried it will be reported even though they made me the nice offer. Thoughts?

Denied Ford Credit Card ( GE Consumer Finance) - Util too high on my existing accounts - # of lates --- but these are over 3 years old, but since they still show up, I guess it count---- does it? Macy's - DENIED "previously delinquent with our firm". OUCH. Not sure whaaa?? But I hope they'll let me know if I still owe them, because I've paid EVERYONE.

This may be a silly question, but when you say you don't think you have great credit " not so much" you said - I'd say you have good CL on your cards but your Utilization is high. That doesn't mean you have bad credit. So why did you say that? I'm curious because I also have high util on my cc, and am working to pay them down...... slowly but surely........... :)
