Agreed, my only concern is a drop in my FICO score if the card is closed by the issuer and if that might have a snowball effect on the other cards that I use on a regular basis.

Hi All, I received a letter from Barclays last month stating that if I didn’t use my card within 30 days, they would close my account. Fortunately, I noticed it in time and made a charge to keep it active. Would it be better to make a small charge every month to keep the card active, or should I just let the bank close the account since I rarely use the Barclays card anyway? Thanks

3 of them at 0 and two with balance. Question should I be paying my balance in full prior to my payment due date so it reports a zero balance or not? Dont want to be losing point if thats the case.

My highest CL is $10K with, Cap One, AMEX & Barclays. Income $200K FICO 8 - 810 Fico 9 Transunion - 771 Revolving Util is - 15% Requested for CLI and got denied. Here is the reason Goldman Sachs Bank USA could not approve your request for a credit limit increase because: Your recent payments on Apple Card did not cover a significant portion of your monthly balance Goldman Sachs Bank USA received your credit score from TransUnion Consumer Solutions. Your credit score is a number that reflects the information in your consumer report. Your credit score can change, depending on how the information in your consumer report changes. Your credit score (TransUnion FICO® Score 9) as of December 19, 2022: 771 Not sure what does the above comment mean. I only have $1K balance to be paid on the card and I have always paid in full.

Hi, I have had the Apple Card since 2019, intital limit was $4500, received an auto CLI of $3K I think in 2022. Current FICO 8 score is 810, Apple card balance is $1K and $600 balance on installment plan. Overall revolving utilization is 15% and am thinking of requesting an CLI. Would I be required to provide proof of income and will it be a hard or soft inquiry? How much of a CLI can I expect? Thanks

Is it common for fico score to go down if you pay off balances. I recently paid of my car loan of 17K and score dropped by 18 points.13 points due to decrease in balance of credit cards. Thanks Raj

Applied for the two cards this week and got instand approval. Called Chase to check if the cards were mailed and the automated system said the Slate was approved and should be mailed whereas the Marriot Chase was under review. So am a bit confused if the Marriot Chase is approved or not even though I have online approval. Thanks Raj

So this is the reponse I got from Cap One "Based on your application information, proportion of revolving account balance(s) to income is too high" So i have them as AU on my Amex and Cap. The AMEX has a high balance and Cap One doesnt, would it make sense to have them removed from Amex and just keep them on the Cap One as AU?

There is no credit check for a corporate credit card because it is issued at the request of your company. You shouldnt have any issues.

Hello Everyone, Need some advise here. Have two kids in college and I have been trying to get them their own credit cards for a while but for some reason they keep getting denied. Applied for the Journey student card from Cap One they were denied, applied for a secured credit card from Cap One denied again and applied with Discover student card denied as well. Currently I have them as authoirzed user on my Amex and Cap One. The limit on Amex is 9500 with a balance of 5000 and Cap has 3500 with a balance of 1000. They work part-time so income is around 4-5K per year as they are full time students, so not sure why they are getting denied. Any advise or next steps will be appreciated. Thanks Raj

These are following cards I have Amex Blue $7500 Balance - 4500 (This will be paid in full next month) Open Date - 2008 No lates or negatives Cap One Venture $5000 Balance - 2500 Open Date 2011 No lates No lates or negatives Cap One $4050 Balance -2000 Open Date - 2011 No lates No lates or negatives She will be working partime and no scholarship or grant. Hi Guys, Need some help here. I recently applied for a secured student credit card with Capital One for my daughter who will be starting college next week and she was denied. We got the letter today from Capital One and the reason for denial was the following Credit Bureau is missing and unavailable from Equifax, Experian and Transunion. This will be her first credit card and she has no credit. Should I just add her to my card as an additional user? Thanks Ed

Hi Guys, Need some advise here. So I signed up for my Spring classes and completed them end of April 2012. A week before my classes ended I was advised by my financial aid office that my aid is being cancelled as I signed up for 5 credits instead of 6 credits. After explaining to them that I was following the curriculum provided by the school they didn't care and sent me the bill for 6500 in May. So I paid 500 and advised the school that I would pay the balance in a month or so. I was trying to pay off the balance today online and the school system shows that my account was sent to a collections agency yesterday 6/1. My question is 1 - Can the University send the bill to a collections agency without giving me an opportunity to pay? Or send me a request for payment before sending for collections? 2 - If I pay the collections bill in full will that record be on my credit report? Thanks for your help. Ed

Smar, You will need to apply for a secured credit card in order to build your credit. Banks minimum require $200 to open an account and some will charge an annual fee ranging from $35-$79 and other processing fee of $0-$79. You can try Orchard Bank, BOA or Cap One for secured card, but make sure that you pay in full every month to avoid high interest that comes with these cards. Good Luck Ed
