Those Sonatas are very nice. Was it expensive to insure?

The insurance increased by $50/yr from the rates on our prior 2003 Volvo S40 with 63K miles. So, not bad at all.

MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY:  I purchased it brand new in August of 2010. 2 years ago I had a credit score of 520. Sucked it up and purchased a used Dodge Stratus with a payment of $465 a month. Never missed a payment. Fought at the dealership for this new Dodge Charger but they found me the best deal. No money down!   I was at the dealership 7 hours but worth the fight. They took good care of me in the end.

Re: Auto Loan Approvals!

I've been monitoring these forums for almost 2 months now, ever since I ordered a new 2011 Explorer.  The information has been invaluable to me in selecting a good instiution to finance with.   So after lurking for all this time, I finally pulled the trigger this morning - joined PenFed CU online (I was able to join by paying $15 to join Voices for America’s Troops - which in my mind was a good cause anyways), then applied right away for an Auto Loan.  The entire process was easier than I ever expected and their online application (asside from one glitch) was fantastic.  The only problem came (I didn't realize until calling and talking to a rep) is that when I entered my VIN, it only pulled up that I had ordered a base AWD Limited Explorer.  The extra options I had added were not figured into the MSRP (and I don't recall seeing a way to add them).  The result was that after being approved and moving through the entire process, including how I wanted to receive my loan package, the application was put into a pending status because the system was calculating my LTV as greater than the required 85% (for 72 month term).  When I called in, I explained the issue, let the rep know the options I had added (I logged into NADA and confirmed there for her the correct MSRP after adding the options/package I ordered) and she entered the information for a loan officer to review.  I was told I they'd probably have an update for me in 3-4 hours, so after waiting 6 hours, I called back and checked on the status.  I was told everything was approved, and arranged to have my package/check expressed out to me, so I should have my check tomorrow.  If all goes as planned, my Explorer will be arriving on Monday, so I'll be all set to pick her up.

APPROVING BANK: Pentagon Federal CU
BUREAU PULLED: Equifax
CREDIT SCORE: Not positive what they pulled, my FICO score as of 3/11 through this site was 704
CUSTOMER STATE OF RESIDENCE: NY
NEW/USED: New
YEAR OF VEHICLE:  2011
MAKE: Ford
MODEL: Explorer Limited
MILEAGE: 0
RETAIL/LEASE: Retail
AMOUNT OF LOAN: $40,000
TERM CONTRACTED: 72 months
APR/LEASE RATE: 3.49% (their lowest Internet rate for term)
MONTHLY PAYMENT: $622
MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: I'm not sure if they would have pulled an auto enhanced or just used a report pulled when I joined the CU, but if they did pull auto enhanced I think my score would be higher as I have several paid off vehicles, one current auto loan, and never a single late payment on any auto loan/lease I've had. MSRP, Gap Insurance, and Tax totals $50,471.  Based on this figure, it winds up my
LTV is 80%.
Thanks everyone for contributing to this site.  It's great  Smiley Happy

You'll LOVE your new Explorer.  I've had mine almost 2 weeks, and I still feel like I'm out of my league driving it around!

APPROVING BANK: BMW Finance
BUREAU PULLED: Experian
CREDIT SCORE: 695
CUSTOMER STATE OF RESIDENCE: NY
NEW/USED: New
YEAR OF VEHICLE:  2011
MAKE: BMW
MODEL: 328i xDrive (premium, sport, value pks)
MILEAGE: 0
RETAIL/LEASE: Lease
AMOUNT OF LOAN: $19214.64
TERM CONTRACTED: 36 Months
APR/LEASE RATE: .0021 MF
MONTHLY PAYMENT: $533.74
MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Before this lease, I was financing a Land Rover LR3. I decided that the way I like new vehicles, worry free warranty/surprises, and the amount that I use my vehicle, a lease would be for me. I traded in the Land Rover and took the equity away, $2400 after the financing was paid. I didn't put any towards cap reduction as it is a lease. With the BMW, between payments and gas I will be saving around $200 a month and the added bonus of $2400 cash in hand. Land Rover was my first vehicle but wanted to sell to start planning for a ring. For baddies on my credit, I have a 60 day late on school loan from 6 months ago (forgot to renew the auto payments), a medical collection that wasn't deleted yet as it was supposed to go to workers comp. I was also perfect on my Land Rover financing, in case this was an auto-enhanced credit score.
