Quite impressive, I don't remember anyone posting info like yours.  Congrats, and yes, many (myself included) are envious.  Keep it going!

So, those that follow what I've been doing on here with Disco since getting the card know I've been trackiing them and coming up with a formula of sorts on the best CLI strategy.  Since August of last year I switched from hyper hitting the CLI button to an every other month approach which has yielded better results.  I thought this might be a fluke of some sort with them approving something for 6K instead of 3-4K/CLI.  Well, after the first 6K I went and did my CLI for Dec and sure enough they did 6K again and even after my call rounded out my CL to 42000 instead of 41600 which was an OCD thing having the odd ending number.  Anyway, Feb rolls around and finally putting them to the test hit the button again and bam 2-day like usual and it shows up this morning with 48K.

8/1/2016 Manual CLI (2 Day Message) $29,600 $4,000 10/1/2016 Manual CLI (2 Day Message) $35,600 $6,000 12/1/2016 Manual CLI (2 Day Message) $42,000 $6,400 2/1/2017 Manual CLI (2 Day Message) $48,000 $6,000

If you've followed my 1st year post about Disco you see several entries where there wasn't a CLI while hitting the button frequently.  Finally switching to the every other month method has stopped the blank entries as well. If this continues for 2017 and beyond this card will just explode into a new stratosphere for a CL.

And as some say around here, If there's not a picture of it, it didn't happen.

Let me see if I understand this within the context of gaining CLI's at Discover. The goal is to ask only once in 2-3 months and not asking frequently, correct? Is that what I have been doing wrong is asking too often within the 2-3 month space of time?

Re: 18K+ of CLI from Disco in 4 months

Awesome!  Congrats on the CLI, it's great to hear.  I have experienced similar results with Discover, just not as large as yours Smiley Happy

Started at 6500 7/2016  Had been carrying a 50% balance for a couple months due to an emergency.  PIF 7/15/2016.  Auto CLI of 1200 on 8/2016 statement.  Manual CLI request approved for 1500 9/16/2016.  Manual CLI request 12/16/2016 approved 1000.  2/2/2017 Manual CLI request - 2 day notice aproved for 6500.

Charged up the card and moved some balances and paid them off quickly a couple times during this.  Also paid off almost all my other cards during this time.

My goal is discover to be near 50K in 2-3 years.

I don't know if asking matters much.  My wife requested a CLI every month for a while and they approved it usualluy after 31 days, somtimes not.  They almost always did after 91 days.  She did put large purchases and PIF every month.  I think they really like that

What I found is that taking the every other month approach is more productive than requesting more frequently.  Although it doesn't hurt to ask more often it just isn't as productive in the amount of the increases.

When requesting more often I was seeing 3-4K/increase which was coming out to 18-24K/yr in increases.

When requesting less often it boosted the amount to 6K which would be 36K/yr in increases.

While everything is different for everyone sometimes less is more when working on bringing up the limit with Disco.  Some people from other posts I've suggested a couple of tweaks to the use / CLI pattern have seen more success.  For instance in 2016 I spent just shy of 5K on the card and got 29.6K in CLI's and that's almost 5X the amount spent.  Some spend 20K in 6 mo's and only bump up $1500.  My simple formula has been putting a couple of recurring bills on the card each month and setting it to autopay and forgetting about it other than setting reminders to hit the CLI button.  My first year post shows my attempts trying to figure out the timing with Disco with various results depending on timing in a detailed format.

For instance I requested 8/1 10/1 12/1 and now 2/1 and all 4 were successful in comparison to when I was trying to time things out it was more sporadic like a hit 6 weeks or 3 months in between.  Trying every other month gives them time enough to report the updated CL and see additional payment / use history which for my profile seems to be enough for them.  If you're getting denied at 75 days try 90.  If you're hitting on 31 days then that's great too but, spacing things out more might result in more significant rises.  There's a sweet spot for each account and you just have to try to figure it out.  Another user hits the button on the 9th of every month in the hopes of an auto cli each month and had been getting 2-3K/increase and the last one was only $500.

There are just a lot of variables from person to person and it takes time to get to know each other to find that magic solution.

Absolutely fascinating and amazing. I just need to find that patience and consistency that has worked for you to also work for me. The numbers are crazy.

Re: 18K+ of CLI from Disco in 4 months

The biggest issue for most is time.  We get used to things that give us immediate gratification and Disco just isn't that quick hit from the pipe.  Hopefully with some tinkering with my working method you'll find your own method and achieve similar results this year.  If you don't have the time to put into it then there's always the "Lending" route of taking a HP and telling them what you want and see if you get it or a counter back on the request.  They're easy to work with when you call and it's painless talking with them about things.  I've always been hesistant about calling lenders because they usually try to blow smoke or sell you something you absolutely don't want or need.  Yet another reason I called the direct number to bypass the regular reps which I'm sure are great as well but, I wanted to speak with the people that put the check mark in the box for Approve not just someone to tell me it's still pending.

It's not an overnight sort of thing to figure out how to get the most out of them for a limit but, it definitely pays off.  Together we've been able to put somewhat of a guide together in one thread from the info we've gotten from trying things with Disco.  It's somewhat comprehensive and not quite as overwhelming as the Amex 3X guide.  Anything useful I come across usually gets an edit to the first post to keep things at the top of the thread as it grows.

Grats on the CLI, lets keep the data points in one thread in CCs and not duplicate it here or I will have to close out one of them,
