Folks, I have not slept yet. An epic thread which I will share in a moment, compelled me to apply for this card. It was my first "prime" card since bk(other than Amazon Prime ). I came to this board a little over a week ago due to some questions with an AMEX BCE app. my first in well over a year. Unlike this, that is still in limbo: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/Anyone-ever-mistakenly-applied-after-the-be...
I didnt sleep last night due to obsessively searching for posts regarding the 3 cards I IIBed(Chase, Discover, and Bank of America), and found this epic thread which made me apply for this card, and actually purchase a Costco membership for the first time! http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Bankruptcy/Prime-Blacklist-Approval-Experiment-who-s-with-me/td-p/23... (I declare SoulMaster a board hero for his work on that, as well as those who assisted, thanks to all of you)
(on that note, as soon as I'm done with this post, I have work to do. It seems that my Costco membership purpose was later cancelled....luckily after I got the card, but Ive read that the credit card can be cancelled if you let your membership lapse...I'm guessing I should look this gift horse in the mouth to be safe, and try to correct the issue[I think it may have been a new address that I entered] before my new card gets cancelled? Any thoughts???)
As mentioned, I am about 5.5 years post bk7 discharge. Citi was not IIBed, and I have never even applied with them before, to the best of my memory. Not sure which bureau was pulled, but I seem to think I mostly saw Equifax mentioned by folks. My fico 08 scores as of last night were EQ:736, TU 756, and EX 751.
Mind you, I seemed to recall at least some threads where it was claimed this couldnt be done before 7 years after a chapter 7, even though a few people in the same thread said theyve done it. Then it was said to be "rare". I'm here to tell folks that it need not be rare, and can be common with decent post bk effort. I didn't do a thing for about 4 years after my bk, I just wasnt interested. So if I can do it in this time frame, it likely can be done much sooner.
Some of this will be old news to a number of you if you're on here enough, but for those who haven't seen enough such tales, I encourage you to read SoulMaster's great thread(the 2nd link I provided).
I just remembered, $6,000 limit, instant approval(major thanks to UncleB, who helped me realize that turning my VPN off before apping is likely to make a difference), and NO pre-approval on the website or in mail.
(EDIT: removed a portion about some verification obstacles. Card is supposedly in the mail!!!!)
Overall, quite happy, and that thread has me worked up to possibly throw out my plans of waiting til my INQs fall off by November.
Thanks to anyone who read this far I wonder if I can actually find anything to buy at Costco? Happy about the 4% on gas, which Ive found can be purchased anywhere.
UPDATE: Regarding having my Costco membership order cancelled due to something regarding information related to my payment most likely, I sent them an email with a copy and paste of their email, and an explanation that it might be imperative to hurry so that my new Citi card isnt cancelled due to my membership being cancelled. No reply yet, but it's the weekend.
Meanwhile, I logged onto the Citi site for the cool heck of it, a few times over the last 20 minutes, and keep getting this error(does it happen for others as well?) :
