I've recently been looking for a card to move my balance out of Navy Fed. They're the last institution I want to burn if stuff goes sideways. Applied for a PenFed Gold, declined. I happen to have a Chase branch next door to my new job, so I dropped by after work and talked with a very helpful gentleman who was intrigued by the fact that I had a Credit Journey account with them without having any other Chase products. Using that info, they managed to look me up and it showed pre-approved for ALL Chase cards. I have no need for another travel card, so I skipped the shiny Sapphire's and went for something a little more basic. Walked out with an approval for a Chase Freedom Flex for a limit of $6800 and an APR of drumroll please 27%! Yikes. Needless to say, I don't intend to carry a balance on it after the 15 months promotional period.
