Update Approved: How solid is Capital One’s Pre-qualifies?

Update: I just pulled the trigger...
Those 3 seconds of wait time seemed endless, even my hands started perspiring during it.
I about fell out of the chair! 10K! Thank you C1, I needed this.
So far, only Experian hit, I’ll keep you posted. I thank you all for your input Smiley Happy
* Any advice on where I should go from here??

Congrats on the new card.  How many new accounts have you gotten in the last year.  My wife has 800 FICO but 6 new accounts in last 12 months and is not showing prequalify for venture.

Re: Update: How solid is Capital One’s Pre-qualifies?

Thanks! I only had 2 revolving Accounts, and both were opened this year. One was through Capital One (which probably helped).
I honestly do not know how C1 feels about (x)amount of new accounts/per year?
With a 800 fico, i’m suprised that your wife isn’t pre-qual.
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in soon.

Here’s my profile...

I Pre-Qualified on Capital One’s website for Venture & Venture One, Quick Silver.

My Ficos when i applied: EX 742, EQ 753, TU 753. They were slightly less when i first got the pre-qual from C1.

I do not charge more than 20% and PIF as soon as it posts. My limits were low so i’ve been going through this process prob 5 times a month. Twice i’ve let a balance roll over ($90 discover & $23 C1).

C1-QS1 Approved - May 1, 2017 ($300). Declined for the 60 & 90 day cli requests. $200 Cli at 6 months/credit steps (November).

Discover Secured - July 31, 2017 ($800)

Student Loans are 14 years old (10k Owed). I have 5 late payments that are dated November 2010 – March 2011, which will fall off in March 2018.

No Collections & 3 hits for the 2 above cards and 1 card below.

BLUE CASH EVERYDAY (Declined) July 11, 2017.

Congrats!   $10k is a great limit and far from a starter card.  You are now in a top tier card.

Use the card as much as possible and PIF always.

I pay large chunks WEEKLY on my main used cards.

Cap One has treated me very very well.

If you find that you are having trouble spending all your bonuses on travel, you can convert it to a No AF QuickSilver at 1.5% cash back in 6 months or a year.

Re: Update Approved: How solid is Capital One’s Pre-qualifies?

Thanks a lot!!

When I saw 10k, I thought about what you said “this could be a huge jump for my credit profile.”  It feels really good to be here, but I want to keep climbing up.

I see how well Cap One has treated you; those are some very healthy credit limits you have there. That is exactly where I want to be in the next few years! Do you think Cap One is more generous to customers who are more loyal to them per say? I’m wondering if I should focus on building a strong relationship with Cap One only for now, and then spread out.

Thank you for the advice, I really appreciate it... I was wondering how I should use this card, what does Cap One like to see. I will follow your lead.

I downloaded the Cap One Wallet right away, so I could knock that 3k out quickly. My second day I was just under 2k spent when Cap One emailed me to make sure it wasn’t fraud, lol. It’s feels good to be able to breath a bit.

I will definitely keep that in mind (…convert it to a No AF QuickSilver…). My wife has family overseas and we try to join them every winter. I’ve wanted this card for quite some time, I’m curious to see how many miles I can build up using it.  We’ll see how it goes J

Do you think I should PC my Quicksilver One to Quicksilver, seeing as it appears to be bucketed?
