5 month Old AMEX Green-Can I apply for Gold?

Does anyone know if having a new Amex Green gets you disqualified for a gold. I know you can upgrade after 13 months of having your card however I feel I can benefit now from the point structure (I would have gotten gold initally but was trigger happy).

I don't think it would. I have two revolvers right now with Amex no problem. Couldn't you also look at the PRG?

Absolutely not.

I have a green and platinum. You can have as many as they'll approve you for, as far as I know.

Are you talking about getting a second charge card or a PC?

Well I figured I would apply then close the Green. I know you have to wait 13 months to PC

When I first applied for AMEX I applied for the Green and ED and got approved for both. A few days later I realized should have applied for the PRG instead of the Green for the signup bonus since all the UW critera for charge cards are the same. I applied for the PRG about 5 days after my Green and ED approvals and was approved. I've SD'd the Green until the year is up on my PRG and I can see whether or not the AF will be worth it.

Tough call. Yes you can do that but then its a waste of a HP. So is the HP worth the sign up bonus?

Unless OP is applying for a mortgage, car loan or other absolutely essential TL in the near future, I don't think another HP is all that bad...especially so close to the initial HP from the same lender. Easily explainable if need be also.

I apped for the amex green card last month and I was approved for the amex prefered rewards green card. Is there a difference between green and when people call it "PRG"? I only saw only application to app for and that was green. I assumed because I was approved for prefered rewards green, it meant the same thing?
