AMEX BCE Chances?

I've been wanting to get into the AMEX family for a while now but don't know if I should wait or go for it?

Discover It - $5000 opened May

BOA - $5000 opened May

Chase Freedom - $1500 Opened May

CAP1 - $1500 opened May

WF Secured - $400 - opened December 2012

Student Loans - $5000 (deffered till 2016)

EX - 20 Inquires

TU/EQ - 11 Inquires

Last inquiry was a month ago for a CLI

UTL - 1-5%

No baddies, just a short record with a lot of inquirys

Re: AMEX BCE Chances?

How many of those EX inquiries will be over 1 year old in May?  That is who AMEX typically pulls.

This may be skecthy at best given the short history/recently opened TLs <6mos and the # of inquiries, depending how many of those are < 1 year.

Re: AMEX BCE Chances?

In your shoes, I'd garden until at least May 2014 before apping again. Too much new credit right now.

Re: AMEX BCE Chances?

Ablout half of them are under a year old and the other half are over a year.

My AAoA was about .7 years or something but went down becuase my student loans JUST hit my credit report a year later. But my oldest account is 2 years now. and the newest 4 are 6 months.

The thing is, I wanna have all the cards I want now so I don't have to app till I get out of college, so hopefully when I graduate i'll have 0 inquires, my AAoA will be high, and i'll show good use with multiple TL's. So then I can get my own car and house soon after graduating. Thats the goal atleast.

Maybe another AMEX like a charge?

Re: AMEX BCE Chances?

I would garden for the moment and apply when your new accounts hit the 1 year mark as this would also mean less inq. But if you do not mind a HP you might gamble...hard to tell ...AX was pretty good with my CLIs, a lot of HP and many new accounts but over 50% were Chase pulls...8 pulls in 8 months.....so Amex approved everything ...Good luck,

Re: AMEX BCE Chances?

Odds are not in your favor with 10+ inq and the number of new accts. but I would still take a chance to lock in the 2013 MSD.

That's a lot of inq and Amex is very inq-sensitive. Plus, you've opened 4 new accts 6 mos ago and your oldest acct is 11 mos old and secured. If you had less inq, I'd probably suggest trying for a green card. But with all those inq, I'm not sure you'd be approved.

If you wait until Dec, you'd at least be past the 6-month mark on the new CCs. On the plus side, if you got approved, you'd have future backdating to 2013. But you may end up with one more inq and no CC. It's a gamble. If you think it's worth the risk, then go for it. The truth is that there is really no way of knowing. Your util is low, which is good. If it weren't for the 20 inq, I'd say you stand a good chance at Green.

Do you happen to know your FICO (not FAKO)? Even if you know your EQ FICO, that will give you some idea of your EX FICO.
