AMEX Platinum Card

I've got 4 accounts in good standing with American Express. 2 Charge and 2 Credit. On the personal charge card there's a link to upgrade to Platinum. At least once a week I get the itch to upgrade. Yet I don't hardly ever fly the AF is $450.00. Is it rational to upgrade? Is there a way around the AF? For those with this card do you feel it's worth the $$$?

not worth it if you don't travel. the gold gives you everything the plat. does except travel stuff.

The Plat card works very well for me because I charge at least 9K (10K to 13K total a month) a month in travel related charges. If you don't travel much, the Plat card probably won't suite you.

I use my Platinum card all the time to buy White Chocolate Mocha at the Starbucks.
