It's going to stay on your reports for ten years after closing, whether paid off or not. The negative items will stop reporting 7 years after each occurred.
Your credit reports are a history of how you have handled credit. Therefore, even once collections and charge-offs are paid, they still display, because they did happen.
If you hadn't already paid, the best attempt would have been a PFD, or pay for delete, where you get the creditor to agree (in writing, on company letterhead, signed by someone with authority) to remove references to negatives in their reporting in exchange for your payment for what you owe. The best you can do now is GW, or goodwill, asking them to have the kindness to cease reporting. Not much leverage at this point, I'm afraid.
