Whether it's BoA or any issuer my thinking is if it's going to cost a HP might as well do a new app and transfer the CL.

+1. and too, i don't want the HP.
They also generally pull EX for new applications, and TU for CLI. I would certainly take a HP on TU before I toook one on EX.
They gave my husband an auto increase of 1k right before Xmas along with some 0% promotional thingy. My husband has never used the card himself. He added his father on as an authorized user and it is the card that his dad uses for emergencies. Last year the card was only used 4x, all for less than $35. So I was a bit surprised that they gave him an increase.
I am one of the lucky ones to get a SP cli. I went 2k to 8k with a SP, I called again the next morning and requested one for 15k and got it with a hard pull.

Should have bought a lottery ticket instead .
I never had much in the way of a good credit score so YMMV; however, even with ~70k in BOFA accounts at one point I didn't see an auto CLI. Then again I haven't gotten one from Chase either with a supiciously similar amount in the accounts there on my Freedom: quite probably my pig isn't pretty enough regardless.
BOA is moody. I have gotten CLI's before with SP only. Only once did I requst a CLI and it was a HP

You are right
should have gone for powerball lol
I have been a card holder with BOA (Platinum Plus) for 7 years, stuck at the initial approval limit of $1k. After many years of attempting the luv button only to get auto denied, I called the back door number yesterday and disputed my denial backed with my loyalty and commitment to BOA and my 100% ontime payment history with them. The rep approved my credit limit increase to $3k.
I checked my experian score/report directly from Experian this morning and saw it had resulted in a HP on experian and they were already reporting my CLI. However, my score jumped to 699, that's up from 550-ish across the board this past February! I can now confirm my Equifax FICO (MyFico reporting) is 689 and my Experian FICO is 699!
