Capital One CLI request

Hello everyone,

I noticed a little while ago that when I log in to my Cap One account & search for the term "credit limit increase" it actually gives instructions on how to go about making the request. Before the credit card reform act took effect it just stated that Cap One was not processing customer-initiated requests.

I wanted to know if anyone has tried requesting a CLI from Cap One using their automated system since the change, if it was successful, & if it was a hard or soft inquiry on any CRs?

Thanks!

Re: Capital One CLI request

You have a different flavor of card than I do, so what's about to happen isn't going to happen for other people or even you if you try. (You have tried, by this point, right?)

Old Capital One Platinum Rewards (cash, not miles) card -- I keep this card open for age, only.  Only used for toy charges to keep card active.  As soon as the bulk of my cards hit 4 years with good history, I'm canceling and not looking back:

- no button to request CLI under Customer Service

-Under MESSAGING: when choosing option to request higher CLI

"We are unable to consider your request for a credit limit increase via secured messaging at this time. Capital One proactively reviews accounts on an ongoing basis and notifies customers if they qualify for changes to their account terms. If you have other questions or would like to speak to an account specialist please call us at 1-800-955-7070."

1.5 year old Capital One Biz Rewards (cash, not miles) card:

- no button to request cli under Customer Service

- Under MESSAGING: when choosing option to request higher CLI

"We are unable to consider your request for a credit limit increase via secured messaging at this time. Capital One proactively reviews accounts on an ongoing basis and notifies customers if they qualify for changes to their account terms. If you have other questions or would like to speak to an account specialist please call us at 1-800-955-7070."

When using the 'search' option, inputting "credit limit increase" in the box, I got the table below.   Good find.  When I followed the instructions, however:

"...this account is not eligible for a customer initiated increase... you will receive a letter.. capital one may periodically review..."  blah blah et cetera et cetera so on and so forth.   again though, that's probably because this card is one of the tragically unhip 'you suck and will never receive an increase ha ha ha' cards they were giving out back when they refused to report credit limits to the credit bureaus, so folks always appeared maxed out.  Credit Step folks will probably have a different experience.

Again, thank you for the find, though.
