It's probably the easiest chase card to get. As for the card being any good, not really sallie mae is much better at 5% back on amazon. Credit lines are usually smaller. It is a good way to get your foot in the door with chase but I think chase freedoom is a better all around card.
Yes, a Sallie Mae and a 2% card is going to better than the Chase card except for those that spend a lot on Amazon ($18K a year is the cutover, and even then you should spend the first $9K on Sallie Mae)
Got it mainly because I've never been able to get a Sallie Mae and I shop on Amazon regularly.
Took me several times to get this card too for some reason.
Had a 709 FICO and the starting limit was $1k and I moved $500 over from the AARP to make it a 1.5k limit. Highest APR but I PIF on it so it doesn't matter that much to me. Barclays APR on the Sallie Mae also sounds pretty high to me.
I guess if I ever get a Freedom or a Sallie Mae, this card would immediately go in the SD or I'd move out the entire limit to another Chase card and close it.

Problem is coding. My area (Seattle), the bookstore coding seems to be disappearing (used to show up even on Amex). Also, if you do a lot of ebook reading, the prime membership itself, digital downloads, use quasi retail for subscribe and save, other third party merchants, etc., then Sallie Mae might not work. And if you plan on gardening, this is a good starter card, and not that easy to get. Sallie Mae also requires a lot of history, with higher scores.
I can't speak for digital purchases, but we order from Amazon on the reg, 2-3 packages a week and we have never gotten less than 5%. I kind of expected Prime Membership I had heard that somewhere. The last thing I ordered was not directly Amazon, it was one of those vendors that are on Amazon, and we still got the 5% (I wasn't sure if that worked).
We do have the Amazon Chase card, which I had gotten in the hubby's name when I was not fully aware of the SM card. When it comes to the low credit line: His score at the time was somewhere around 730 (no baddies, uti less than 3%) and he was approved for $4800 at their lowest apr. The same day he was approved for $10,500 with USAA Amex, at their second lowest apr.
This is one of my favorite cards! It might be that it was my first credit car, and I've had it for a decade or more. I don't use it for my general spend because I can get better rewards on my other cards, but that's not to say the rewards on this card are bad. But Chase consistently auto CLIs my card. Also, Chase gave me a 10% APR and I always have decent balance transfer offers available on it. I personally love it, but my experiences itchy be unique.
