Hi all
First, I'd like to thank all the helpful members for a collection of great information that I've had the chance to lurk through this past year or so. It has helped me learn so much and even deal with the fear I had of credit.
Anyways on to the topic. After a recent app spree I was waiting for my discover statement to post so I could get a look at how (badly) my TU score was nicked. That's when I noticed this line at the bottom of my e-statement:
Effective August 1, 2015 Discover card will discontinue the following benefits: 24/7 Travel Assistance, Baggage Delay Insurance, and Emergency Roadside Assistance. Discover Card purchases made on or after August 1 will not be covered by these benefits. Please visit ******* for details on these benefits.
In the year that I've had this card, I've never once used these features. Now, I can be kind of childish at times. So while I've never found use in what is about to be gone, I can't help but feel bummed out.
Anyone in my "Disco-fam" gonna be affected by this?
What's a card benefit that you'd hate to see gone or just can't live without?
I've never used any of those benefits either, heh (I have emergency roadside assistance for free through my car insurance and don't really travel) but I'd be sad to see extended warranties go bye bye. I haven't used it either but it's nice to know that that benefit is in the back pocket in case I do buy something that needs it.
Just saw on my statement:

and Emergency Roadside Assistance. Discover Card purchases made on or after August 1 will not be covered by these benefits. Please visit

Is that new?

Yeah, it's very recent.
I was kind of perplexed when I noticed it, seeing as they just introduced a "travel" card.
I can't imagine these benefits cost that much....can they?
I can't imagine most people using these features. I hope this means they are reallocating benefits into something more useful down the line.
Roadside assistance?
That's the most frequently one used, I'd assume.

They probably aren't used by a lot of people. My travel cards are Amex, Barclays, and my CU. Discover is for cash redemption.
