No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Really need more information. Do you have any baddies? Is the score you list the score AMEX looks at? You can check out the database to see what people got aproved by them and what their scores were. If you need to find it just google 'credit pulls database'.
You will get a lot of good info here but you need to give more details on your situation. Good luck.
Also, your FICO score is not based on how many credit cards you have. It is based in part on New credit, as in New credit is a bad thing. At least, until it becomes well aged credit, with a long history of on-time payments.
Can you increase Length of Credit history? Not really, only time will do that. Can you improve Types of Credit used? Sure, but getting a Morgage or a Car loan seems rather excessive for little gain.
You can effect New Credit (stop applying), Payment History (don't ever pay late), and Amounts Owed (lower is better, but not using your credit at all is bad).
So you plan to keep what you have and let it age for at least 6 months, with 12 months being even better? That sounds like a fine plan.

You haven't provided enough information to get advice from more experienced members (not me) but I will share my experience with Amex. I applied for an Amex JetBlue with a EX credit score of 666 (FICO). Revolvers are supposed to be harder to get but I was approved with a low CL - just 1K (increased with CLIs). I had three credit cards - secured Cap1, Credit One and a recent Barclays rewards card and my AAoA - Average age of accounts was about one year (Cap1 - 2 years, Credit One - about 18 months and Barclays - 2 months). My credit utilization was about 5% - I always paid in full and left a small balance after the statements cut. I also had no baddies. The Cap1 and Credit One cards helped because I was able to show a decent history of on time payments, etc., etc. Right after I got the Amex JetBlue, I applied for the Amex Green (same credit score - 666) and was approved. BTW, when I applied for the Amex JetBlue, they pulled all three credit bureaus since I was a first-timer so you should check all of your scores and make sure that they are FICO. Or follow the other advice and wait til your scores climb to 700.
