How to Get Decent CL's - When to App - Please Help

I have the following credit/store cards:

BOA Accelerated Amex Opened 4/2008  CL $1000
Cap1:  Opened 4/2004   CL $500
DMB Discover: Opened 4/2006  CL $1100
HSBC: Opened 3/2008  CL $1300
Orchard: Opened 10/2005  CL $500
Macy's: Opened 4/2008   CL $1000
Target: Opened 6/2007   CL $500
HFC LOC: Opened 5/2008   CL $8000

A CAP1 charge-off has fallen off my TU and EQ reports, but remains on EX (drop off 1/2009). I have an unpaid state tax lien for $256 which appears on EX and TU from 2003. $65 collection from 2005 appears on TU and EQ which I am disputing (acct paid prior to referral to CA). Lastly an unpaid med collection from 2004 for $440 on all three reports. No lates in 4 years (student loan has a 60 day Jun 2007 which they are correcting). Scores were 645 across now have dropped.

My TU score decreased 25 points with the new cards activated in April. Haven't pulled new reports for the others until my balances updates from the end of the month with HSBC. My concern is how do I get decent CL.  The only reason I apped was to get for BOA was to get a prime card. Had to reconn, but was able to get in the door ... but only with $1000.  I called HSBC to combine my Orchard and HSBC card. DMB gave me a $500 CLI in March when I PIFd and HSBC gave me a $300 CLI in April when I PIFd my first bill.

If creditors look at your CL's to determine what they may offer, how do I get out of the $1000 rut? I want to be able to get rid of cards and only keep 2-3.  If I am only able to get minimal limits I will continue to have to keep apping and dropping my score which defeats the purpose. Can anyone help with any suggestions? If you need more info let me know.

I would hang in there for a little bit to get some aging. BoA is sure to grow with you.

Opening new accounts does drop the score's a little for a short while. They will rebound soon. Smiley Happy

I would sit tight until the end of the year...by then you'll have more history and the effects of the inquiries will have decayed. Your scores should begin to rebound this fall.
