IS THIS TRUE

Previous Post :  Re: Hooters
applied for the card and it gave me the 7-10 day spill (most likely denied) but since Target called me back and asked a few questions then approved me I figured I'd call Hooters, the rep past me through to Credit Management and the lady there said they had no record I applied except back in 2/07 when my credit score was 525 and I was denied now my score is 634.
I pulled my CR before I called and it clearly shows  June 15, 2008 Merrick Bank/ Hooters Card   so they did pull my credit so why wouldn't they have my information ? I don't need another inquiry as I have 10 between last year and now, 4 of which I've tried deputing because I never gave permission and we don't even have the stores here.

NEW POST : Ok so I waited awhile and called back as the Rep earlier told me to do, still no info from yesterday they told me, so I was asked if I'd like to apply by phone, I'd said I wasn't sure since it meant another Hard Pull, THEN the Rep infoms me yes and it is like 50 pts each time we pull !! IS THIS TRUE ???????

Re: IS THIS TRUE

50 maybe for a fico high achiever, in the most stringent bucket. for most folks it's maybe at most 15 and less for each subsequent pull, until fico stops dinging for inquries.

Re: IS THIS TRUE

Sorry, but that customer service rep was misinformed. You're not going to lose fifty points for a single hard pull. The average cost of an inquiry for those with moderate credit scores is 3 to 7 points.

People as a rule get overly concerned with inquiries. They're not that big of a deal. Now six or seven of them...yeah, that can be a big deal, if only for a few months to a year.

The INQ will count in NUMBER of INQ's

BUT- for scoring purposes it will be de-duplicated-

Re: IS THIS TRUE

My scores are in the 730's right now and a hard inquiry typically cost me around 3-5 points. 50 points seems like too much. I've never seen anything like that.

Re: IS THIS TRUE

Merrick only sold the Geico department to NMB...and they aren't accepting new applications.  Hilarious.  I logged into my Geico account and tried to check it out, hit apply, and it said "Website Under Maintenance."  It has said that for over a month.

Merrick still owns the Hooters division.

Re: IS THIS TRUE

i called Merrick after being able to access my acct through New Millenium and they said they were doing NMB's cards but they would fix the accessibility which they have.  Something strange went on there.
that was a while ago
Recently they sent me a notice about the state they do business in.  They had problems in NY.

I agree. I don't think people in the 800 club lose more than maybe 10 points. Misinformed CSR.
