About 2 months ago I upgrated to the Amex Platinum because my travels finally justified the annual fee and the travel perks can't be beat. I only run about 2K a month through it since the points are only 1-1 except when booking travel through the Amex travel site. I got the Gold Card in 2007 and upgraded to the PRG in 2013. The PRG was my primary card because of the fairly good point amounts and catagories. Well, today I got a letter from Amex telling me that after review of my account they decided to waive the annual fee at this time and that I could rest assured that they would notify me if this changed in the future. Don't know if this means that the AF has been suspended indefinately or just for this year. Time will tell I guess. Just nice knowing that I saved $450.
Edit to add:
And, no, I never did ask them to waive the AF on any of my cards.
That's great, Berk! Congrats.
Plus with the $200 airline credit per year instead of $100 on the PRG, you scored!
Maybe your huge spending might be it.

Yeah, that's gotta be it.
Wow.... that's awesome!!!
Are you military by chance? Amex will waive the annual fee on their cards if you are active duty military.
