Pre Approval Sites June 2015?

Maybe there is another thread like this and if there is please delete or move this one.

Lets talk about Pre Approval Sites, How Successful they are?

Some say if it gives exact APR or a lower range APR then you are more likely to be approved.

This is only a partial list. I tried to pick the ones normal people can possibly get and I'm sure I am missing a few.

American Express

Bank of America

Capital One

Chase Pre Qualified Offers

Citibank

Credit One

Discover

Home Depot

US Bank

For me:

American Express never showed any on their site but I got great Pre Approvals in the mail that I was approved for.

Bank of America shows me pre approvals all the time but I can't speak on if it works or not since I haven't applied. Update... Can put any info in the site you want.

Barclay -  I dont see the pre approval site anymore but some claim the emails they send out are definite signs of approval.

Capital One's approval site has been good to me and my wife but shows nothing pre approved as of late.

Chase never shows me any pre approvals.

CitiBank never throws me a bone with pre approvals or approvals.

Credit One - Never tried it. Any hopefully will never have to.

Discover's Pre approval site is crap.

Home Depot - If I lived closer to one.

US Bank only offers me a debit card lol

Re: Pre Approval Sites June 2015?

Just had the wife try Bank of America and she got the same offers as I did.

I don't think their site is very accurate. Hopefully others have been approved from that site.

We may have to test this soon.

Do NOT trust Bank of America pre-approval.

They changed their verbage to we 'recommend' not prequalify.

Also, it has been tested you can actually put in fake information into their prequalification and it will show the same 'recommendations'

Did you see a specific APR when you checked ?  I never get anything on the BoA site even though I do get preapprovals in the mail from them

Exactly why we need a thread like this. Do not trust Discover and BOA preapproval sites..

Didn't see a specific apr..

Thanks for putting together this list! Line for line I have noted my findings or what I have so didn't try.

BofA: Said it recommended Cash Rewards card (don't think that is a pre-approval at all)

Citibank: Did not have any pre-quals

Re: Pre Approval Sites June 2015?

American Express - I didn't prequalify for anything on their site, but app'd for the Everday Card and was approved.

Bank of America - "Recommended" unsecured cards to me, I app'd and was denied--then they offered me the $99/$500 secured card.

Capital One - Prequalified me for Venture, I app's and I was approved. Theirs seems to be spot on.

Chase Pre Qualified Offers - Prequalified for Freedom and others, app'd for Freedom and was approved. Now no prequalified offers come up for me. Theirs seems to be spot on.

Citibank - Can't match me with anything.

Credit One - Never tried.

Discover - Said I was prequalified, app'd and was denied. Offered a secured version.

Home Depot - No match on website, however I received an offer in the mail. I havent app'd yet though.

US Bank - Only prequalifies me for a debit card--hilarious!
