Reported Balance - Authorizations vs Posted Transactions

One of my CC will report balance and payment history tomorrow. I've got $100 or so in posted transactions. The problem is that I also have about $800 in authorizations that I cannot pay today since they have not posted yet. In fact, $400 of the authorizations is simple a double auth that will never post. I'm wondering if I will get a utility hit because my avail credit is showing nearly $1000 in credit used. Does anyone know how a balance is figured?

Balance is what you owe. You don't owe authorizations.

I knew this but for some reason was convincing myself otherwise.

Re: Reported Balance - Authorizations vs Posted Transactions

As far as I'm aware, only the posted transactions affect the reported balance. Authorizations are not completed transactions until they are posted. Authorizations only affect available credit until they are posted, at which time they are added to outstanding balance.

Re: Reported Balance - Authorizations vs Posted Transactions

Had this problem before. The transactions were pending the night before statement cut, and they ended up posting the next day and got reported to the credit report. To avoid this I just stop using the card a few days advance of statement cut.
