WFNNB Express Fashion card not reporting $0 balance to CRAs

Hi all,

I paid off my WFNNB Express Fashion card a few weeks ago, but they have not yet reported the zero balance to CRAs. The account definitely has a $0 balance (confirmed when I last logged in).

I’ve read that WFNNB has a habit of NOT reporting $0 balances. I’ve also read that some folks have disputed the balance with CRAs to get the balance updated. But I am worried about disputing the balance and having the card deleted from my reports (this is my oldest card, perfect history).

I spoke with a CSR today, who stated that balance updates could take 30-60 days.  That doesn't jive with my experience, where I noted they would send updated balances within a couple of weeks of statement cut.  Why would it take LONGER to report a $0 balance?

Do any of you have suggestions as to the best way of having the balance updated? I’m preparing to app for a new apartment in a few months so I’m working on getting all of my balances paid off.

I may just make a small charge and pay off all but $1.00 or so…but having a tiny balance reporting inaccurately is annoying regardless.

Thanks for your time and consideration. Smiley Happy

If you paid the balance off on this statement, it won't be updated to CR until next statement.

Here's the problem - no statement generated once I paid off the account.

I normally would have had a statement generate around 3/23/11 - but since there is $0 balance, nothing generated.  I have read other folks report the same thing - pay of balance to $0, no statement generation after that.

i haven't had this problem with my express card, but i would think that if you specifically dispute "incorrect balance" your account should not get deleted.

I would first try calling them and asking them to generate a statement, or at least update the balance to the CRA's in some manner or another.

If that doesn't work, dispute the balance with only one CRA, and you should see the $0's pop up on all three. (Don't dispute with Experian, because if it happens again, they'll refuse to investigate.)

I'm one of those who had problems with this (WFNNB J.Crew) and had to dispute the balance with the CRA's twice, but after that, they've generated a statement with a $0 balance after I pay it off. Don't know why they can't just do this automatically.

Re: WFNNB Express Fashion card not reporting $0 balance to CRAs

Update: My reported balance has now been updated to $0.

So it took WFNNB a week longer than usual to update a $0 balance than it took them to update an actual balance.

All is well Smiley Happy  Thanks!
