So I just noticed that both of my accounts with Barclay's have a banner that reads, "Boost your buying power." Underneath it is a button labeled, "Request a credit limit increase today." Has anybody pressed the button? If so, what happens? I don't want to waste a hard pull on curiosity
Your computer explodes.
OK, I was just kidding. Only a little bit of smoke came out of the back of the computer, but it continued operating.
In my case, I got a screen telling me I was not eligible. I'm sure they didn't pull credit, and it was only an internal check, because it took about .01 second.
My husband said it downloads a virus. It reads all your personal emails and sends them to Barclay customer service.
OK, time for me to log off for the evening. LOL, sorry - well, hopefully someone else will tell you they had a good experience with the Barclay CLI button. One time Barclay gave me a $50 CLI, and I didn't even ask for it. They raised me from $2,500 to $2,550. And it was about a month after I got the message saying I was not eligible! So maybe that famed and mysterious button really does do something - indirectly, and later.

For me it was there right after I opened the account. Clicking it takes you to another screen where you input employer, salary, and other stuff.

If you applied for new accounts after Barclays within 6 months, a call from their reps with a bill lumbergh voice says "Yea...................um................we're gonna have to....close.....your account with us................yea..............because you have too many new accounts"

True Story
So the way I'm reading the above posts is that no one truly knows if it is a hard or soft inquiry?

Well I have a credit freeze. So I could maybe test it out..you know...for science.
I have 3 Barclay cards and every cli I have requested resulted in a hard pull. I've always done it online and they've given me an increase every time but I've always gotten a hard pull as well.
