declining my request?

I sent a gw to Target for a 30d late payment almost a year and a half ago.  I just got a response from them:

We reviewed the records of your Target National Bank account and confirmed that hte information we've sent to the credit account is correct.

If you need more information, please feel free to contact the credit bureaus directly.

Is this a polite declination, or should  check my report in a few weeks to see if they removed it?

Target didn't specifically state they're going to update your credit files removing the 30 day late payment.  Don't expect them to.  You can try writing another GW and hope it get in the hands of someone more forgiving.  If not, your only options is to wait until the late 'age' and focus on your other accounts, and never be late again.

I think they may be telling you that they believed they reported correctly the first time.

I'd try another GW letter. Try to find a VP or CEO you can address it to.

Target receive 1000's pieces of mail and a handful of people to open and answer them.  Target CSR's are well versed to speak with one voice.
