No PFD

I have an card that went as a charge off some time ago but not yet to a CA. I spoke on the phone to their collection dept manager and tried to see if they would do a PFD. He said it was not their policy. I pleaded my case and go nowhere. My question is should I still attempt to send a letter to them since I have the right address as I asked for it and hope to get a better response. Or should I just give in and pay it. This account shows up on my revolving credit balance and I want that down and I also dont want to chance it going to a CA and getting another ding on my report and keeping this thing alive. Thanks for your help this board has been great

Re: No PFD

You can try and mail a letter.. but if it truely is company policy you are kind of stuck.

Re: No PFD

Amazingly, many CA's would rather see your nose rubbed in something for seven years and walk away empty-handed than do a small favor and get paid.

I've had a couple conversations with CAs and gave up...I told one manager this was a classic case of Darwin in action, as agencies like his too lazy or stupid to do an hour of work in exchange for hundreds of dollars would ultimately be displaced by those willing to get up off their rear ends to make a win-win situation happen and get paid.

Re: No PFD

Also keep in mind..

1. Many CAs are uneducated and truely believe PFD is against the law. We obviously know better.

2. I have heard rumors that certain CAs have a no delete agreement with the CRAs. I am not really sure if this is true.. seems like a sad excuse for the CA to not have to delete.

As TNWM already pointed out.. it really is a win win for both parties.
