Just out of curiosity, what is everyone's total credit limit amounts? And is your total credit limit greater than your annual income?
I just want to know because I see a lot of people on here who have huge credit limits and I'm wondering if the assumption that it is unlikely to have more credit than your income is actually true or not.
I have 9.3k total limit and it is not greater than my annual income.
I'm just sitting pretty at $500 total credit, but my excuse is I am new or "thin file" for my Credit. Just enjoying my gardening until I can go after more cards/higher limits.
And with my estimated annual income being about $12,000, I do NOT have more credit than income.
Total household income is $300,000
Total credit, includihng lines of credit: $321,000
Yes, credit lines is greater than total income

Like all credit matters it depends on one's credit and the criteria of the creditors. For limits income does play a role as well but one can certainly exceed one's income. I'm at 1.7x my income. This is a fairly common topic so don't overlook prior discussions (I know I posted in at least one recently) as well. 2x and 3x are not unheard of.

Average about 70k pre taxes...over 180k in CLs
What's more impressive is that you have 25k limit on one of the cards

Yes, it is unlikely, but you're surveying a sample that is very unrepresentative of the general population. None of the people I know personally has more than 5 credit cards.
42k CL / 58k Income
There's lots of members on here who have higher CL than their income, but like someone said, this forum isn't representative of the general population. I've seen a handful of members who make less than 50k, but have CLs in the 100k range. It happens. Then there's forum members who make 250k+ and don't / can't / won't get CL over 5k.
The best way I've heard of how to figure out your ideal total CL - Total CL 10-15x your total monthly spend. As long as you PIF every month, your total util never/rarely exceeds 10%. Anything over that is just gravy.
100k houshole income, about 24k limits...
hopefully will be at 35k soon as i am currently waiting for a 9500 increase on my cap 1 card .... 500$ card for over 2 years and now they just upgraded it to a QS ... but still 500$ LOL
I'm at roughly 1.3x income.
