Hi everyone,
So today I logged onto CK to see a new weekly update and it showed that a remark had been added to my Chase Card on both TU and EQ reading "Account information disputed by consumer, meets FCRA requirements."
I didn't dispute any info on this card! The one thing that may have caused this is I SM'ed Chase asking when exactly they report to the Bureaus. I was asking to confirm they reported twice (Once at statement close and once PIF). They got back to me saying they only report when the statement closes, however when I logged onto CK today, I saw that my balance had decreased to $0 because I PIF a few days ago after my statement cut.
I'm confused as to why they would put a remark on my account when I just had a general question and also wonder what this will do in future applications. I already disputed through CK to TransUnion so I hope it gets taken off on their end, but I also SM Chase again notifying them of the issue and asking them to remove the remark.
Is this something anyone has been through? I want this resolved as soon as possible.
Thanks!
The dispute marks appeared in my TU report when I was disputing charges on my Chase card account.
But in your case I can't think of why the remark is in there when you were just sending SM to them, since I've never actually been through your situation. It won't really affect future applications when the remark is gone, though.
It is common for a creditor to err on the side of reporting they have received a dispute whenever they receive any communication that asserts any possible inaccuracy, even if it is not a formal dispute.
Yes, the CRA will remove the comment if you show that you never filed a formal dispute under the FCRA.
I would begin by contacting the creditor and getting their concurrence that you did not file a formal dispute, and thus requring them to remove the inaccurate comment that you had a dispute under the FCRA.
