Tax Transcripts

I am suppose to be closing next Monday on the 31st, today I get a new list of conditions and one of them is a 4506-T which is a form that asks the IRS for Transcript of Tax Return for the past 3 years, why would the underwriter be asking for it?

My lender needed it mainly to check that my income has been increasing since I started my position I believe.  I actually called the IRS and they were able to fax it without sending in that form.  It took about 15 minutes total to have the 3 years in my hands so you probably would rather do that.
