Hello Everyone! I am technically new to the board but I have been stalking it like a mad woman for a few weeks now. I'm hoping someone can help me, as I have a few questions about rebuilding.
I checked my credit report and I have 2 charge-offs from credit cards, both opened in 2008. Nothing else reports as negative, but I do have student loans of course. Anyway charge-offs are:
CITI STUDENT CARD- $1,639
KOHL'S- $356
Obviously both have gone to collections at this point. The CITI card was with CA ARS Debt Solutions and I have settled with them for $800 (before I knew about PFD letters). I am hoping to send a goodwill letter to asking if they can delete the report. I plan on sending a PFD letter for the Kohl's charge card. Now to the questions: (1) Should I mail the letters or e-mail them? I see conflicting information on the board. Some say e-mail is ideal, while others say it's best to leave a paper trail and send them Certified US Mail. Any thoughts? (2) To begin rebuilding, I currently have the CAPITOL ONE SECURED CARD w/ a $200 limit. I have opened an account with NFCU and plan on getting a secured card there in time. What else should I be doing? I know CreditKarma does not give true FICO scores, but they are reporting my score as being 604
