Another First Premier Question.

Has anyone ever paid off First Premier directly for a charge off older than 18 months?  How long does it take for them to update the credit reports?  Has anyone dealt with the their collection agency Integrity or something like that?  What are they like?

My situation:  Charge-off almost 2 years ago.  Recently contacted by collection agency regarding First Premier account wanting to settle.  They have not reported so far.  I'm trying to get this charge-off taken care of without collection agency reporting and that First Premier reports it as Paid, $0 balance.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Another First Premier Question.

Is the OC reproting PAID, $0 balance, or just $0 balance?

If the debt is unpaid, they most likely are only reporting $0 balance, which means they have sold the debt to the debt collector.  Reporting $0 does not alone mean the debt is considered paid.

If they have sold the debt, you cannot make any payment to the OC.  Thus, the only way to deal with the reported charge-off is to send them a request for good will deletion.

Any negotiations with the debt collector cannot adrdress the reported charge-off, as it is not their reporting.

It appears that preventing the reporting of a collection might be the primary goal.  If so, you can send them a pay for not reporting offer.

You would then separately deal with the charge-off by a GW request to the OC.

You could alternately choose to send the debt colllector a DV, which would invoke an automatic cease collection bar on them until such time as they chose to provide debt verification.  A temp reprieve from credit reporting of their collection.  However, they could immediately send debt verirication, and then report.

If the debt is legit and verification is expected, then a DV might not be the way to go.  An offer to pay in exchange for not reporting might be the best path.
