So I'm new to this forum and it's been really helpful ! I woke up this morning to a $300 CLI on my secured $200 with capital one! I am super stoked! My 6th statement just cut
Congrats!!! It's the only one you will get.
My Secured card started with $200 and I got a $300 CLI about 6 months in... so I have a $500 Limit and it's now been a little over a year and account has not moved.
I can't deposit money to increase my limit and I cannot request a CLI, I also can't request a PC.. So.. There's that. I'm just like :

If its a year old, its time to close it and open another unsecured account. No sense in keeping it past a year if you are getting unsecured cards with them.

I'm so scared if I close it and Apply for an unsecured card they're going to say no and I'll be without a card =< I have a pretty thin file... I was trying to get at least one more unsecured card from somewhere else so in the worst case scenario that I do end up getting denied from Cap 1 I at least have 3 other Unsecureds to go with..is that being overly cautious?

Yes, IMO you are being overly cautious. As long as you don't have a bunch of unpaid charged off credit cards, they will issue a second unsecured card. The fact that they have upped your unsecured limit pretty good is a good indicator.

Well I suppose it's time to bite the bullet and go for it. After I pay off the $60 balance.. XD

What are your scores if you don't mind me asking
They're in my signature between 600-625 depending on which Credit Bureau gets pulled.
Congrats on the increase. I have had mine for about a year now and never have seen an increase on it. I do however have 2 other unsecured lines through capital one so I cant complain much about it =P. I dont know how they determine if you are elidgable for one or not. I made mutiple large monthly payments to the secured account with no luck. I tried talking to a represenative to find out what I could do different and got the same "we randomly prescreen" answer lol. Consider yourself lucky and enjoy the wealth =P.
I am in the same spot. My scores are hovering around 600 or a little over but I really want to dump my secured and go for the platinum because platinum has so many more upgrade and growth options. But I am scared if I cancel it they will deny me the platinum. I have a qs1 with a 500 limit I opened about 2 months ago.
