Collection

After months of poor customer service and billing issues with a cell phone company that I will not name, I cancelled the service and went with a different company.  The company did not try to deal with me directly, they turned me over to a collection agency.  I have been disputing this for almost a year and have documentation.  My stand on the matter is that they have to uphold their part of the contract - customer service and I have refused to pay the cancellation fees.  Of course this has now affected my, what was before this, a 728 credit score.  I understand that this will stay on my score for 7 years.  Is this so, whether I pay or not?  I feel at this point, I am going to stand my ground.  If it isn't going to change my score, why should I cave in on a matter I feel strongly about.  I am sick of these big companys taking advantage of us because they have something to hold over our heads - outrageous cancellation fees even if they are the cause of the cancellation.

Re: Collection

Have you ever tried planetfeedback.com? They will help you send correspondence to CEO's, I've always had good results when it's something with customer service when using this site. The site is not the greatest, but it actually gives you pretty quick results.

Like Steve suggested, PFB is great. I was able to get a Verizon Wireless off my CRs via a PFD, even after sending dozens of failed PFDs via mail and fax.

It will stay on your CR for 7-7.5 yrs from DOFD, or the day it first went bad. It does not matter if you pay it or not, it will continue to report. Eventually the carrier will sell your debt to a CA and some OCs will delete (Verizon Wireless does) but then you have a CA to deal with for the remainder of the time.

Re: Collection// Confused /pls help

Hi I am new to this message board stuff. In hopes of getting a lot of feed back.I am in the process of trying to

clean up my credit to be able to purchase a home in the next five months started my disputes on line with the credit bureau's have paid a few collections off some deleted others just marked as paid.My Fico mid range is around 540 maybe a little higher.Since I have started this dispute process.I have received calls and letters from old collections that never were on my credit reports. One is a old Payday loan for like $375.00.From over three years ago.Got a call from a Collection company out of NY and I am in Az.Told me he was about to walk into the court room to get a judgement against me.I told him I had no idea what he was talking about. And to send me all the info.He refused said I should know every thing already. He hung up on me.I'm nervous about this and don't want to be sued let alone have the $ to take care of stuff thats not on my report. ????? Any input any one ????

Second I recieved a collections letter from a company that I have never heard of saying they where offering me a settlement from a old debt from like 2004 when I had T-mobil phone service. And left them prior to paying the get out of the contract fee so I know I did owe something.I change to Cingular.Again this info is not on my credit reports. Should I respond to this letter or ignore it ?

PLEASE HELP ME SOMEBODY !!!!! CONFUSED
