Estimated Credit Score

Currently at 630. I have 2 collections that are going to be deleted off my report. Also, my CC balance is showing 400 out of 1800. I have since paid off my CC just waiting for them to report it again. Any idea, what my ceiling could be now? Or an estimated guess of what it could be. I have paid all bills on time for the past 4 years. 3 credit inquiries in past 12 months. New Credit Card got in August.

Re: Estimated Credit Score

I would definitely invest a few bucks and pull your actual credit score.  If you pull it from the myFICO site, you also get access to the score simulator, which allows you to game out various scenarios involving your future score.  I'm not going to say it's 100% accurate, but I'd say around 75 to 80%.

The jump you get from the collections getting deleted depends on how old the collections are.  If they are less than two years old, you could see quite a gain.  If they are three or four years old, probably about 20 to 30 points.  Five years, maybe 15.  After five years, collections really aren't holding you back all that much.

Re: Estimated Credit Score

The new CC could hurt, but typically only if you have more than 3 open CCs reporting. If you have less now, then expect a gradual increase over the next 4 months so as long as the balance remains in check. Ideally you want less than 10% to report.

The baddies could be holding you down.

Re: Estimated Credit Score

Just remember, if you get a SW alert, the score is the real deal, but don't rely 100% on the reasons. The reasons are real, but there may be other things going on. For example, I recently saw a post where an inquiry hit and the person's score went up. The reason for the alert was the inquiry, be we know that the inquiry didn't cause the score to go up. I once had an alert for a 20 pt jump. It said that my balance increased. It wasn't the balance that caused the score to go up, but rather a baddie popping off that SW didn't catch.

I bet you may get 100 points between the two CAs if removed.

Re: Estimated Credit Score

Nothing has posted on my CR yet. However, my score has increased to 644 and other things have happened since. I paid off the balance on my one CC and also recieved an increase in my CL from 1650 to 2500. I am expecting a pretty big jump from the time the two Collections are removed, balance of zero on CC, and increased credit limit.
