I have a question about google collections. Do they have to call you or send snail mail before they go to collections. They sent an email saying it might go into collections which would result in higher fees but that was all it said.
I hesitate to ask for help on myfico because there seems to be lots of insults and etc sp please only answer if you have something constructive to add.
There is no requriment, either under the FCRA, FDCPA, or any statute or regulation, requiring notification to a consumer that a party is placing a debt for collections, either internal or with a third party debt collector.
There is also no requriment that a debt collector provide notice of the collection to the consumer prior to reporting it to a CRA.
The requirement for a formal notice of collection is triggered by a debt collector making an "initial communication" with a consumer, which then requires that they send a collection ("dunning") notice within 5 days after that initial communication. See FDCPA 809(a).
