HOW TO APPROACH

HI, I HAVE AN ASPIRE VISA CARD THAT IS CLOSED.  I CONTACTED ASPIRE TO SEE ABOUT REOPENING THE ACCOUNT AFTER I PAY THE BALANCE DOWN BELOW THE LIMIT OR OFF IN FULL AND THE REP. REPLIED THAT  THEY COULD NOT DO THAT AND THAT ACTUALLY THEY ARE NOT TAKING ANYMORE APPLICATIONS FOR THIS CARD(DECISION MADE BY THE BANK).  ANYWAY, I ASKED IF I COULD POSSIBLY DO A SETTLEMENT AND THE REP SAID I COULD BUT, HE GAVE ME A DIFFERENT NUMBER TO CONTACT ABOUT A SETTLEMENT.  WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW?

THANKS

Re: HOW TO APPROACH

Aspire and all the related cards (Aspen, Emblem, etc.), I beleive, are closing shop. CompuCredit and Jefferson have been in hot water with the FTC and FDIC. They are gradually closing all of their CCs.

IMO, don't settle. PIF ASAP. A TL marked "settled" is just as bad as a CO in FICO's eyes. However, if your goal is to save money....

Re: HOW TO APPROACH

I AM TRYING TO SAVE MONEY.  DO YOU THINK I COULD DO A PFD IF I STILL SETTLE?
