KD Key Derogatory**

Every month, Midland is reporting an account to one of the CRAs as "KD"

**Key Derogatory: Claim, Term Default, Government Claim, Paid by Dealer, Bankruptcy Chapter 7, 11 or 12 Petitioned, or Discharged and Bankruptcy Chapter 7, 11, or 12 Reaffirmation of Debt Rescinded.

This does not sound accurate. They claim the OC was T-Mobile. I am waiting on the results of a DV, but if I recall correctly, I have not had a T-mobile account in about 10 years and I do not recall owing them this debt.

What exactly is a KD and is Midland reporting inaccurately by reporting this way? (of course the whole account is likely inaccurate)

Sorry, I have no answer to your question. Just subscribing to this thread as I am having a similar problem. Hoping someone with more info comes along soon.

Re: KD Key Derogatory**

I'm not clearly sure what the differene in KD versus derogatory is, but I've been told a KD is weighed "more seriously" than just a derogtory remark - I paid a charged-off debt and when I did they reported one KD the month I paid the settlement amount - basically my understanding of a KD is it is a very serious deragatory - my guess is that your score suffers more from a KD than any other derog remark - maybe someone can shed some light on this - also if anyone can tell me if the OC was allowed to put a KD remark on my report when I paid or just when it went into derog status - my guess is that they can report as KD continuously as long as the debt is in derog status

Re: KD Key Derogatory**

CMSs, like Experian's services, report "KD" instead of showing a late. It normally equaltes to an updating collection. Every month they'll update the status and that results in a KD. I can't speak to the FAKO via that service, but FICO looks at the worst delinquency and the recentness of that delinquency. In this case it's the CA itself and the lates don't matter. However, an updating CA isn't a good thing.

Wait for the DV results. If they verify and you agree, then send a PFD. I'd also suggest calling T-Mobile and asking for the last few statements. Most CSRs will stall you or say that you aren't in their records. Keep trying. Somehow the CA got your info from T-Mobile.
