Re: Lisa & Jonathan's Rebuild Log!

Wow!  Congrats!  You guys are doing an awesome job!

I noticed that your husband had a collection with Hunter Warfield.  I am having a beast of a time trying to deal with them right now.  I have a collection for a bill that I honestly forgot about from my old apartment complex.  I am fine with paying the bill in full, but they will not offer to do a pay for delete at all.  I wonder if I go ahead and just pay the bill, how successful a GW letter would be after that.  Would you mind PM'ing me the contact info for the VP of Collections?  How long did he wait after paying before sending the GW letter?  I'm hoping I could pay the bill and then a day or two later send the GW letter to them.  Thanks for any help and keep up the good work!

**inserting progress updates prior to when I had to change my account information, as I was unable to continue to update my old account**

CK update for husband today- +6 points after 2 deletions... not a huge increase but I will take it

‎02-07-2014 07:52 AM

Note to self, some motivation- Zoe told me last night she wanted to paint her room purple.  It broke my heart to explain to a 6 year old girl that we do not own the place that we live, so we cannot paint the walls until we move somewhere else.  We need a house, and soon.  We deserve better than where we are forced to live because of our past mistakes, and my 2 girls deserve better, they never made any mistakes.  Keep persevering toward our goal... 2015 here we come.

‎02-18-2014 04:41 AM

CK update for me this morning- plus 5 points   DV to IC Systems for some medical bill in 2008 and they deleted.  First victory for me so far.  Also received letter from attorney general for husband's dispute for CA collecting without license.  They referred it to financial regulation department who will handle it from here, plan on contacting them by the end of this week to check status but hope for a deletion instead and another increase for husband on friday's update    baby steps but I love seeing some progress. Hoping some of my GW letter responses start coming in.... I know they do not have to respond but I sent out so many I am watching the mail like a hawk hoping for a reply!

another update- CPA $92 unpaid collection i sent DV letter and it is deleted as of this morning as well.  Wondering if these will come back to haunt us or not?

‎02-19-2014 12:46 PM

update for today: Cavalry Portfolio agreed to delete settled tradeline on old CC- so happy for all the successes we have had thus far!  Received letter in response to my DV for NCO for husband saying they need more info about the accounts... hmphhh... guess I will revise my letter and send it back to the lady who signed the letter I received.  Should get a reply faster that way.

‎02-24-2014 06:54 AM

potential setback yesterday... received a call from the dreaded Midland!  They say it is about my first premier card which charged of in early 2008- I swear I paid this to asset acceptance on a PFD years ago, because I remember that name and it is not on my reports.  I was doing a lot of cleanup back then too so I could be wrong a bout who the OC was... I will look through my files and see if I have anything about it but I am scared to call Asset Acceptance to ask in case I didn't pay it and they were not reporting for some reason?  I believe it should be removed next year and I do not want to deal with Midland at all.  Should I just wait it out? We are not buying a house until at least 2016 (thats the plan at least) so it should be excluded by then even if I did not pay it... right?

‎02-26-2014 05:09 AM

one step forward, 2 steps back... NCO re-reported the initally removed account, and inserted another one.  F**k!  I hate them so much.  Off to find others success stories and beg for email addresses... and send out more GW letters.  11 point drop for husband, huge drop in attitude for me.

‎02-26-2014 11:09 AM

Well,  just as fast as I received that diappointment this morning, a few calls revealed a glimmer of hope... I called the hospital on my husband's 2 open unpaid collection accounts (also reporting to NCO) and they referred me to the ER physicians billing service.  This nice lady on the phone is mailing us copies of the bills so we can verify they are correct, and I told her I would like to make payment directly to them, not to a collection agency, which she was more than happy to accept.  I asked if retraction from the CA would be possible with full payment, and she said it has to be approved by a supervisor.  I am confident in my letter writing skills and I think with the incentive of full payment ($700 worth- OUCH!) I can win this one.  Also revised a couple GW letters and mailed to President of Delmarva Collections, VP of Collections for Hunter Warfield, and President of Seventh Avenue.  Hoping for replies from them.

‎02-27-2014 05:21 AM

weird stuff going on.  yesterday 2 NCO financial accounts started reporting (none were reporting to EX before... ugh) and today one is reporting, the one with the $628 unpaid balance.  Not sure what they are doing, but they are playing dirty!  This is what folks mean when they say sometimes you shouldn't poke a sleeping bear  DV backfired. oh well.  I have confidence I will be able to get a retraction for full payment from the hospital on these, so I will just stay positive and keep moving forward.  No other news today, and I am burned out from this week so I am laying off credit repair until Monday I think.  Would sure be nice to get a response letter.. email, fax, telegram, smoke signal, pigeon... something! from some of my GW's.  Maybe next week.

‎02-27-2014 07:24 PM

So happy! Came home to a success on my GW letter to the president of Delmarva collections got a form letter saying "information was reported in error" and "delete totally" was checked off... says they will update EQ and TU woot woot... feeling better after a crappy day. Was ready to give up on a lot of things but now I'm sure credit repair is not one of them.

‎02-28-2014 04:56 AM

Update: this morning, both NCO accounts were again removed from freecreditreport(dot)com EX report... not sure what is going on, but my husband regained those 11 points he had lost- woohoo!  mailed those letters to Seventh Ave. and Hunter Warfield yesterday, so hoping for something from them next week.  Also rec'd husband's TU report in the mail yesterday, and there are a few additional baddies that aren't reporting to EX or EQ, so I will deal with those next week I guess.  I don't have the strength to do any more this week!

‎02-28-2014 07:57 AM

Another update- nothing earth-shattering, but my oldest CC which was reporting as 30, 60 & 90 days past due in 2008, as well as the odd "collection" account that was appearing even though the account was never charged off or anything both disappeared as of today.  I called creditscore(dot)com to cancel my membership so I could go with another service, but they enticed me with a free 3-bureau report... I could not resist.  I only wonder how this will affect my AAoA, but right now I am more concerned with a clean report.  Not a single point increase though.  Guess I can't expect much with this damn tax lien hovering over me!

‎03-04-2014 07:57 AM

Today's update:  +1 whole point as of yesterday.  Guess it's better than minus any points.  I guess this is because of the loss of that really old account reporting 90 day lates.  Received an email from the president of seventh avenue yesterday that he had received my letter, apologized for the inconvenience and will have one of his associates look into it.  I smell a charge-off deletion but I don't want to get too confident yet.  Got a response from BBB for broadstripe cable- they got the accounts mixed up and told me I owe the $92 (which I do, paying OC as soon as possible) but the complaint was for an incorrect $596 balance from 2010 for equipment we returned and they never credited.  I sent my rebuttal, waiting to see what shakes out of that.  No response yet for BBB complaint to Credit Protection for not responding to my DV letter, or from LVNV (was told account would be removed once paid, it wasn't.) asking for deletion- we shall see what happens on these this week hopefully.  Received a letter from DLLR about Credit & Receivables / IBO credit services, an unpaid collection account on my husband's report- not licensed to collect in MD.  They are looking into it, so I will give them another week and then call to check status.  Lots going on right now, think I will hold off on initiating any more until some of this stuff calms down and I get responses.

‎03-04-2014 03:33 PM

Came home to a nice letter from NCO that they are deleting 2 accounts, but ummm... I don't recognize the account numbers... I am thinking these are the 2 I sent the DV letter for because this letter came from the same lady who sent a letter back asking for more info on my request. I tried to call but can't get through (weird). Maybe that is why they added and then removed them to experian last week? Either way, 2 more bite the dust. I just wonder if they were the paid or unpaid accounts, that makes a big difference. Also reviewed hubby's TU report and realized his GE walmart charge off is listed as being removed next month! Woo Hoo! Moving on to the next baddies... an unpaid collection from just last year that I need to DV, and a 6 year old collection my husband is paying on through a debt consolidation (dummy) that is reporting an incorrect balance.

‎03-07-2014 12:05 PM

+9 points for hubby today after United Consumers dropped off... can't wait until these NCO accounts drop, that should be a little bump too.  Emailed DLLR to check on the status of my complaint about IBO services (unlicensed CA in my state).  Faxed Enhanced Recovery credit report page to show their entry was not removed from hubby's TU report when the account was sold to Convergent.  Realized today that we are paying convergent monthly (through debt consolidation which we are just about done with! yay!), but they are not reporting anywhere... weird... I wonder if the DoFD is wrong like I suspected, so they cannot report?  Calling Sprint to verify.  Finally got clarification on all these NCO accounts.  Hospital reported a seperate account for each procedure they did on the same date of service. Jerks. At least 3 of the accounts were removed.  Had to pay $39 because as they were checking into the other accounts, they magically found another from 2013 that was not reporting yet... I paid it swiftly after calling the hospital to verify it was accurate, so NCO will not report because that "account" is closed now.  exhausting day!

‎03-11-2014 05:09 AM

Not a happy girl this morning... I did wake up to a 10 point bump on CK, but I realize I think it is because my Cap1 CO is now reporting a zero balance, which means they have sold it   I have not had the cash to pay it yet, or I certainly would have before they sold it.  Wondering if I can scrape together funds and pay whatever collector they assign it to BEFORE they report me?  Ugh, we were moving along so well and now a setback.  Well,  the bright side is that it is on my credit, not my husband's- who will most likely be who we lean on financially when we go to buy a house, with my tax liens my score will most likely be in the toilet for some time.  I don't see that happening (us buying a house) any time soon though.  Maybe 2-3 years, if we can pay off the lien and start saving.  I don't even want to think about it honestly, it seems so far out of reach for us- this world doesn't seem built for honest hard working people (who fell on hard times at one point) to get ahead.  But I am done my pity party now I guess.  No other updates yet- no responses yet from BBB or any other GW letters, think I will send some to Comenity today.

‎03-14-2014 03:42 AM

Pretty happy about this week's progress... LVNV responded to my BBB complaint and deleeted their TL... and on my husband's report, the $680 open unpaid medical collection from the company that is not licensed to collect in Maryland dropped off today.  DLLR must have completed their investigation so I will be looking for an email from them.  However there was no increase in score today, which was a bummer.  Oh well, maybe it will take some time to see.  Need to get the letters for Comenity sent out when I return to work Monday.

‎03-17-2014 05:47 AM

BBB complaint for Credit Protection Association came back today (failed to validate, did not know what it was for) and they are deleting as reported in error- yippee!  no changes in points today for my husband- CK update for me tomorrow, hoping for a little bump then.  Mailing out those letters to Comenity and keeping my fingers crossed... also to an executive at our last apartment complex to see if she can accept payment directly and pull our account from collections... crossing my fingers, toes, and everything else for that to work because that is the most recent issue, and it is on BOTH me and my husband's reports!

Re: Lisa & Jonathan's Rebuild Log!

UPDATE:  NCAC collections agreed to PFD!!!  She immediately sent me an emailed letter confirming it!  This is a HUGE win for us!  This is the LAST collection open on my CR, and the largest on my husband's.  I am still in shock at how easy this PFD was, usually they hem and haw and don't want to do it, but she immediately agreed very pleasantly Smiley Happy  there is only one collection on my husband's report to knock off now- $250 medical bill that I am having a surprisingly hard time getting removed.  I wrote a letter to the president of the hospital yesterday in hopes he can help me.  The hospital billing dept and the collector both declined PFD Smiley Sad  but it is only reporting to TU, so I guess it is not the biggest tragedy in the credit repair world for me right now... haha.  I initiated a bunch of disputes on all 3 bureaus so I am waiting for that dust to settle... this morning my husband got a 67 point bump from EX after they removed a charge off 4 months early Smiley Happy  his reports are damn near clean at this point- still working on a stubborn bill for an old cable company that we never owed (said we had not returned the equipment and we did).  They removed from EX but as far as I know they remain on EQ and TU, so I dont know what to do now, if I can do anything at all.  We are discussing the possibility of a personal loan through NFCU to pay off my taxes and another loan we pay on monthly (at one of those loan places where they hold the title of your car... yuck), Refi the truck, and opening a CC with NFCU... so much to talk and think about its scary but exciting!  We have never been in a better place credit wise than we are now, and it feels GREAT... all thanks to this wonderful forum!!!

Re: Lisa & Jonathan's Rebuild Log!

Thanks spike- I know it's cliche, but if I can do it, anyone can- you have to arm yourself with knowledge, fight for every single bad account to be deleted and don't pay a dime until it is confirmed it will be (in most cases!).  Your scores are right where we started at, it isn't as bad as you think, time heals all wounds as well!

Re: Lisa & Jonathan's Rebuild Log!

Thanks Lisa!

Do you mind if I ask how much your scores have rebounded?

Also, have either of you applied for a CC or loan? Your situation is a bit similar to mine as I have nothing revolving right now and he has some revolving (utilization is too hihg- working on that) and some past issues to manage (one med bill, tax lien and judgement)

Re: Lisa & Jonathan's Rebuild Log!

I honestly can't say how much they have rebounded yet, as we started with only FAKO scores but recently signed up for MyFICO's products... However I know my husband's score has gone up 78 points since we starting using freecreditreport(dot)com at the beginning.  I use them for experian, MyFICO to monitor Equifax, and Credit Karma to monitor Transunion.  It is working out for me.  We are not going to spend the money to pull actual FICO's until we are ready to apply, which is probably around May 1st.  We have no credit cards and have not apped for any in at least a year.  We will see how this goes applying at NFCU, I hear they are amazing and we sure could use the help!

Re: Lisa & Jonathan's Rebuild Log!

+17 points on CK (TU) for hubby today!  result of removal of NCO medical bill accounts (returned to the OC) and they apparently agreed to remove his Cap1 charge off a few months early- woot!  Next week (or the following week?) we should see another good bump when another 2 open (now paid- PFD) collections are removed... crossing my fingers my letter to the president of MedStar health finds him well and he can help us remove the last $250 collection on hubby's report.  I thought medical bills were supposed to be easiest to remove?  LOL... I've had better luck removing charge offs!  Progress is progress though- at least we are moving in the right direction!
