Pulled my EQ today and midland opened another account for the same collection. but marked it with a new balance and payment info and now both are showing open unpaid also incldued a new date of major first DQ of 2/2012.
i just hope me disputing all my reports will help me since they were in dispute. i may have to send letters again and have them dispute again
That sounds like a good idea but it will never work because too many people log on and don't read any threads already started and begin yet another one that says/asks the same exact thing as 25 other threads on the same board.
That's just one of the foibles of an online forum I'm afraid.
I'll add we'll often merge threads in other boards if the information is uniform, like a major creditor being sold, or a major creditor making a change like adding CLs or removing them, or specific news about a particular topic. For example, if Midland announced they were to close forever, we might have quite a few posts about that (if only it were ever true).
In the case of this board, it's very difficult to merge threads because everyone's situation is different. Some might be in a position where they are about to be sued or were sued, or maybe MCM is collecting on a debt that wasn't legit or the poster was a victim of ID theft. And maybe the posters goals are different. Some want to press for a PFD and move on. Some won't pay even if Hell freezes over. Everyone's advice will differ.

my letter to midland
As of, February 22, 2012 Midland Credit Management and Midland Funding LLC. Is in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act by reporting the same account twice on the Equifax Credit Report. As such I will be seeking legal counsel if this is not corrected within 30 days from the above-mentioned date. I have called and spoke to your agents explaining that Midland Credit Management is in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
I have disputed all accounts with all of the major credit reporting agencies. I have also filed complains with the Federal Trade Commission, the Better Business Bureau, and the California Attorneys General Office.
Under my rights of Under § 617 of the Act, (15 U.S.C. § 1681o). Midland Credit Management is in violation of not reporting accurate information as such I may be seeking damages of the amount of which I paid to the account due to the fact that the new account is reporting on my credit reports and may be damaging to my credit as well as defamation of character. I suggest that all accounts on my Equifax, Experian, and Transunion reports deleted in full or I may be required to seek additional legal aid.
