Question about Judgment.

Hi have an old judgment against me in 2006 I want to pay it off but not sure who to contact? Should I send a PIF to the attorney?  Or call to maybe set up payment arrangements? I'm totally lost please help! Smiley Sad

Re: Question about Judgment.

On your CR should be info about the originating court ... call them and ask for all the documents on your file. The answer on who to contact and how much the balance is should be in there!!

Bear in mind that depending on the state, the judgment could be for more than what you might think. CAs, again, depending on the state, can ask for atty fees and interest.

Good luck!!

De nada! Smiley Happy

Another question: do you REMEMBER being served the paperwork notifying you to appear in court??? If not, you might be able to vacate the judgment on the basis of improper service.

If a filing of a motion to vacate is successful, that will erase the judgment from your CRs (at least, temporarily ... they can still refile suit against you ... but that would take time, of course) ... meanwhile, you could make arrangements to get it paid and have them not report the second time around.
