Rev Rec Corp Collection

Hello. I am a newbie at this so forgive me for my somewhat stupid question. Smiley Wink

I pulled my scores off this website and I noticed that one of the entries was different on both my EQ and TU.

TU
Collection agency - Rev Rec Corp
Original balance - $137
Current balance - $137
Date assigned - Mar 29, 2011
Original lender - Med1 02 First Assist Kingsport
Account number - XXXXXXXXXX
Account holder - Individual
Account descriptions - Placed for collection

EQ
Collection agency - 768YC00000
Original balance - $137
Current balance - $0
Date assigned - Mar, 2011
Account number - XXXXXXXXXX
Account holder - Individual
Account descriptions - Medical

I contacted Rev Rec Corp to find out about it and they advised if there is a discrepancy that I needed to dispute it with the credit bureau. Well that shocked me to say the least. Maybe I am a little dumb when it comes to stuff like this, but I thought since they had the "debt" that they would certainly know about it.

So my question is this, since the balance has already been paid should I send a GW or actually dispute it since they are not showing the correct information? The person that I spoke to stated that she shows the balance paid in full with them as of 03/30/2012.

I really want to get my scores up since I am planning on getting a new vehicle after the first of the year.

Thanks a bunch!! Smiley LOL

Re: Rev Rec Corp Collection

I would send the GW letter, however I do believe that if they tell you to dispute, they will probably not respond to the dispute and it may be removed.  Some CAs will do this to keep from having to deal with paid accounts.

Re: Rev Rec Corp Collection

Hi Shogun, thanks for replying to my question.  I do have a few questions regarding your response.

You said to go ahead and dispute the discrepancy. Should I dispute it with the CRA or CA? If it is to the CRA, should I only do the one that doesn't show the balance as paid or to both CRA's?

Thanks :-)

Dispute to the CRA,  each of them individually.

Hi Shogun,

I wanted to let you know that I did dispute this with EQ and TU and it was removed from both. :-) You offer the best advice.
