removing past dues?

I had a small macys credit card that was 90 days late, never went to collections but it shows 90 days late. I've been told that its not affecting my score, but it still affects me because its on there and lenders can see it. I was told it doesnt hurt my score because its old, and closed, and it was for a small amount. Nevertheless, what can I do if anything to get it removed altogether? I think I would be better off with the entire account being removed altogether. Is this or anything possible?

Re: removing past dues?

When did the 90 day late occur?

ETA..The TL can change from a negative and start reporting as positive, after the lates drop off.  Lates drop off after 7years from the date they occur.Once all the lates are gone, the TL will report as a positive for (i think) 3 more years.

It is hurting your score, believe me.  Although more time passes, the effect is less, 90 day late is considered a major derogatory.   Also, the person who advised you that because the account is closed, it doesn't hurt your score is misinformed.  The fact that the account is closed does not help.

As someone suggested, try a GW letter to get it removed.
