Forebearance question

I have student loans with Great Lakes and I have had problems paying them lately. They sent me a forbearance application to have my payments temporarily stopped or lowered. On the application they asked for my employers information. Why do they need to know this? I'm afraid they will try to garnish my wages, are they able to do this? I could really use this forbearance to give me time to pay off other debts, but I don't want to send them this application back if it means they are going to use my employer information to garnish wages.

Thank you

Re: Forebearance question

it's not to garnish your wages, it's so they know how much money you make.  that way they know if you can afford your payments or not.
