Way back in 2005, i didnt go to all my classes, loans were returned to the feds by the school. This of course put a huge sum into my student account as owed to the school. I get it so far. Since then they sent it to debt collector, the state , back to the school, and then the state. Now its back to the debt collector. Its like riding a rollercoaster. The debt collector is telling me that tuition debts owed to the school have no sol. Im pretty sure its the standard bs, but im not totally sure. I'm within the 30 days so tomorrow im going to send him a dv, i dont think hes that competent. He didnt even know that the debt is 8 years old, or he did and is trying to sweat me. Again it is NOT a school loan they are after, its a tuition debt for unearned financial aid. Ruled by the master promissary note i believe.

Is this the same situation you posted about on the 7th? You mentioned you were going to try to go make payment arrangements with the school. Did you try that? How'd that go?

I agree that h's probably trying to sweat you, but that doesn't mean that can't be a pain about it. They won't agree to a settlement of some kind, since it's out of both CTRP and SOL?

Owing tuition or other fees to the university is not the same as a student loan. The CA will lie to you and tell you it is a student loan and that there is no SOL.

Unless it is a federal student loan, it has a SOL and has to be excluded after the CRTP is expired. The debt will follow you but it won't report and they don't really have anyway to get it from you since the SOL is expired.

Ok so i stopped by the university today, and they say NO, no payment plan. Its in collections now and they cant help me and dont own the debt. The collection company is blowing smoke, and wanting a thousand dollars a month. After 8 years? ummmm riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. *sigh* Thank you both for your advice.

Good heavens - $1000/month would indicate a substantial bill. What school was this where the bill was that high for a semester? Harvard? Hogwarts?
