myFICO vs. Equifax

My Equifax credit score is VERY different on the myFICO and Equifax websites.  That doesn't make sense to me, does anybody know why?  Thanks.

Hello, and welcome to the FICO Forums.

When you refer to your "Equifax credit score", what is the source of this score?  Did you get it from a credit monitoring service, such as one offered by one of your credit cards or banks?

Thank you and I got my Equifax score from the Equifax website.

Re: myFICO vs. Equifax

Ah, I misread your original post.

The Equifax website can be a little confusing, because it offers two different credit scores.  One of them is an actual FICO score, which would be identical to the score that you pull from this website (if pulled on the same day - credit report information updates continually and can change from day to day).

However, the Equifax website also sells their own proprietary "Equifax Credit Score™".  This is a different score formula that uses similar criteria to the FICO score formula, but can (and often does) yield different result.

You can see the difference in products on their "compare products" link:

http://www.equifax.com/compare-products/

You'll see that only their Score Watch product (essentially the same as the Score Watch from this site) offers FICO scores, whereas their other products - which are the "default" offerings on their products page - offers their trademarked "Equifax Credit Scores™".

For practical purposes, the score that is most important to you is the FICO score, since this is the most widely used credit scoring model by creditors.

If you want to get an Equifax report with a FICO score, use this link to get their Score Power product. I could not find this product on their product page, but it works. You can still check out and purchase Score Power using the link above. I knew that EQ offered a stand alone CR and FICO score product, but I wasn't seeing it on their site, so I googled it and found the link.
