Re: Another upside down auto question

I know there is a sucker born every minute but who on earth is going to pay $4K for a refreshed 1st gen Focus?

If it's worth $1250, offer it to CarMax and see if they'll pay a little more. Private Party maybe $1,500. But if CarMax will give you $1,500 take it and run.

It will depend what car/truck/suv you want because some have sizable rebates (and dealer incentives). Cars Direct is a good source of what's happening, also Lauren Fix on YouTube has talked about some rebates/incentives on popular models every Friday.

 What vehicle do you want?

If you are suggesting CPO's, I would wait a little longer there is going to be glut of lease returns over the next 60-90 days.

Also Hertz while not the fire sale some have wanted to happen, none of the less they are discounting heavily some of the cars in their fleet.

Re: Another upside down auto question

95k is rarely "end of life" for today's cars. What do you think is about to go wrong with it?

I have trouble wrapping my head around the notion that it makes more sense to spend 20x as much money on another car vs. a $1k repair or whatever. Especially when you're underwater on your loan.

I'd get right on this loan, pay it off, and start saving up for the next car and be in a GOOD position when that time comes.

It sounds like you are gently using the car with the amount of miles you have on it. It just may hang on a lot longer than you think before work is needed.
