Re: Auto Loan Approvals!

APPROVING BANK: Capital One
BUREAU PULLED: All three
CREDIT SCORE: TU: 529, EQ: 599
CUSTOMER STATE OF RESIDENCE: MS
NEW/USED: New
YEAR OF VEHICLE: 2010
MAKE: Hyundai
MODEL: Accent
MILEAGE: 31
RETAIL/LEASE: Retail
AMOUNT OF LOAN: $16000
TERM CONTRACTED: 72 months
APR/LEASE RATE: 17.40%
MONTHLY PAYMENT: $363
MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Horrible terms and not the car I wanted.  I wanted the Hyundai Elantra.  But I still have a lot of baddies on my reports and I only had $1000 to put down.  Dealer tried to get me in the Elantra, but the down payment hindered the approval.  Was originally gonna wait until June when I could put down more, but transmission blew in my Dad's truck so our household was sharing 2 vehicles between 4 people and it was getting to be too much of a hassle for everyone.  So I decided to see if I could get approved with my low scores and low down payment.  Thankfully I did, even though the terms are unsatisfactory.  Will refinance in a year.

Re: Auto Loan Approvals!

RHAL -

How do come up with a ~$693 payment on a 60 month 48,000 car loan at that rate?  I'd expect it to be over $900 a month.

Re: Auto Loan Approvals!

I got a special loan that BMW only has. Well, I think BMW is the only dealer with one... Not sure... It is called a BMW Select loan. It is a baloon type loan, where you pay 59 regular payments and your final payment is a baloon. Like a lease only with financing. Pen Fed also has it and calls it the payment saver loan. I can either trade it in, pay it off, or refinance the baloon amount, but I am responsible for it. I love it!! I was able to afford the monthly payments on a car expensive enough to get rid of my negative equity. I plan on trading it in for a new one in 4 and a half years.

Good job!  I too live in IL - are you in the Chicago area?  If so, what dealer did you get this great deal at?  I am in the market for a new vehicle.  Thanks.
