Auto Loan Shopping Question

First time car buyer here. I have read all the loan forums and beginner's guides and I am at the step where I am ready to start shopping around for an auto loan. I plan on looking at DCU, PenFed, Cap1 (have a cc with them), NFCU, and SDCCU (San Diego Credit Union) to see what rates I am approved for. My question is, in order to see my rates, do I need to apply for membership and join those four credit unions? If so, maybe this is not a good auto loan shopping tactic as I don't want to have that many open accounts to keep track of. Any advice or recommendations appreciated.

Re: Auto Loan Shopping Question

Find out what their tiers and rates are and what score they use.

For example DCU uses Equifax FICO 5 mortgage score and you can find their tiers online usually.

You can apply at DCU without being a member (yet) but getting the facts first might help.
