Auto loan question (Immigration status related question)

Hi, guys.

I finally, have my own Fico score! Mine is Trans - 703, Eq - 689, Ex - 690.

My credit AAoA is about 6months and oldest is 8 months.

I have no bad information in my credit, it is just short.

+ I am here in the U.S. with work permit.

I heard traditional large banks will not extend loan to me because of my immigration status. Do you guys think I will have a chance at DCU? I am not sure DCU will check immigration status.

I have 30k yearly income and my ssn is about 5 years old.

Please advice.

Thank you guys!

Re: Auto loan question

I am no expert on immigration and auto loans but I am sure someone here is,  I would add immigration question to the title of your post to attract better responses.  Congrats on getting credit established, you have a perfectly clean report so work hard to keep it that way and life will be much easier.  I am 100% sure there are lenders who will help you out, I am sure someone will chime in soon to help you out on where to look.

Re: Auto loan question

US citizens and Green card holders are considered US persons, where they get approved for loans easily. Since you have a work permit only, you won't be considered a US person and banks would consider that. By banks, I mean the ones that you have a saving/checking account with them. I wonder what is your eligibility to apply for a GC?

And to answer your post, I would suggest applying with Capital One auto loan since it is a soft pull and they would let you know the results almost immediately. Sometime, they take one day to process the application, and might ask for a scanned copy of your income payslip.

Which banks do you have credit cards with? I would suggest to try them out since they gave you a CC

Re: Auto loan question (Immigration status related question)

strange of Capital One, oh well...

At this point, I would say to try with different places until you score an acceptable loan, try DCU. I wouldn't encourage you to apply via a dealer until at least you have a preapproval from a bank or CU as your backup.
