As interest rates rise, shopping around for the best deal on an auto loan becomes more important. To do that propertly, you need a good auto loan calculator that takes all important factors into account and shows you not only what monthly payment to expect but how much total interest you'll pay over the life of the loan. Most online calculators leave out one or more important factors.
This auto loan calculator is one of the best I've found. I hope you find it helpful! Anyone care to share their own favorites?
Yep. That's the same one I have been using for years. It's pretty spot on (unless the dealer adds on some BS "fees" during financing).
I created my own in Excel years ago. When I am at home I use it but the one you linked to I have used for a long time and love it. FYI, it matched my last purchase payment to the penny.
Thanks for sharing! I've used a mobile app that is annoying...
The only issue I ran into was adjusting for different APRs and adding extra payments to see the total interest impact. A detailed auto loan calculator with amortization breakdown made comparisons easier for me.
Do you usually compare total interest paid or just monthly payment when evaluating offers?
Looks like a good calculator.
I prefer to use a detailed amortization program because it can take advantage of
whatever payment numbers and number of payments I plan to use.
This can be by-monthly payments, etc.
Better view of interest loss over time, payoff numbers and how loans compare.
